Title: Juniper for limbs but what about riser?
Post by: nightowl1 on April 21, 2010, 10:22:00 AM
I love the look of Juniper on the limbs but also really like the look of a bow made from one wood, so how is juniper for a riser? Does it hold up well, is it too light?

Also, is there a big difference between juniper, red cedar, and other cedar like material in regards to looks and function?

I would think it's far too light.  Eastern red cedar is a juniper, and makes good lams.  Western cedar is different and not suitable for either, from what I understand.

I've been told it is too brittle.
