Title: New and Old - Dryad Orion
Post by: Over&Under on April 19, 2010, 05:59:00 PM
Awhile back I purchased an Orion (new to me) that had two sets of limbs, static recurve and longbow.  I really liked the bow and how it shot, but the grip did not suit me, so I sold the riser(pre-CNC) with the static limbs and had Mike make me a riser (CNC) to fit the Longbow set of limbs.

Well it arrived today and Mike and the gang really did a nice job complimenting the riser and limbs together.  Thanks fellas!

It shoots great to!  Specs are 58" 53@28  Limbs are dirty bamboo and the riser is Cocobolo stripe, but Mike will have to refresh my memory of the lighter wood - maple of some sort I think.

Is it better to have the quiver on the riser than on the limbs?

Not sure if it matters as long as the quiver is mounted below the limb fadeouts.

A friend of ours got a Dryad in a swap and I shoot it last week. Wow,was I impressed ! It is fast, quiet, and points very well.
I shoot it next to some very high dollar, well known bows and it was the one I like the most.
If I can't weasel his bow onto my bow rack I will have to order one before hunting season.

I bought an Orion with LB limbs 2nd hand and almost sold it until I figured out how to hold it.  Now it is the bow that I have the most confidence in.  It is quiet, even when goofing around with string-walking.  I haven't communicated this to Mike, but when I get some funds together, I'll probably have him or his son make another set of limbs for this bow.

BTW, your rig is very cool!!!
