I have a LH Chek-Mate 60" Falcon recurve 54#@28" that has a factory recommended 7.5" - 8.5" brace height (BH). In the past when I crank it up to that, the bow gets noisy and feels tough to shoot. I had it working quite well at 6 5/8" which was recommended from the guy I bought it from. I just took off a pair of brush buttons (discussed in another thread), restrung the bow and checked the BH - 6.25". I decided to try it out. 4" groups at 10 yards(and much quieter without the buttons). Which is good for me (as a newcomer)and feels like the bow/arrow setup is Ok, it's up to me now. I read somewhere that a shorter BH makes the bow more efficient. Should I keep the BH under the 7" mark or is the manufacturer right and I need to work with different arrows(or something)? My arrows are Easton 2018 Legacys 29" long 125 GR tips.
Every bow I tried brush buttons on has been loud. I would try the higher BH now w/o them. You might find something good. Hap
I shoot a Chek Mate hunter II at a 7"brace. I have brush buttons, calf hide on the tips, a leather rest and otter silencers, shooting 30 inch 1916 XX75.
The setup is SILENT.
