I finally had some time to get some turkey scouting in. The first season (draw hunt) started last weekend so I when out to see what had been hit. The first season has been real windy other than the frist morning and yesterday, so I was hoping there were a few birds for me. I woke up to a couple of inches of snow and was still storming on the mountian. That made my mind up to look for lower elevation Rio's. The frist spot I check out is a railed off area I have seen lots of birds in (http://i580.photobucket.com/albums/ss248/barebow13/IMG_0156.jpg). (http://i580.photobucket.com/albums/ss248/barebow13/IMG_0153.jpg)It had lots of these.
I went to look at another area. (http://i580.photobucket.com/albums/ss248/barebow13/IMG_0166.jpg) It also had lots off sign and was able to glass sevaral toms. It was hard to get pics of the birds because I only had my pocket camera. Here is a couple of hens. (http://i580.photobucket.com/albums/ss248/barebow13/IMG_0165.jpg)
I was able to locate several folks of birds thanks to my scouting partner (http://i580.photobucket.com/albums/ss248/barebow13/IMG_0169.jpg)(Abby)
I went back to the frist location yesterday and called in a bird for my friends frist bird. When we were leaving there was still 3 toms gobbling in this clear cut (http://i580.photobucket.com/albums/ss248/barebow13/IMG_0157.jpg). Boy I don't know if I can wait until May 3!! :banghead:
Be calm.......it's not that far away.....
