Title: ST. JUDES -- DID YOU KNOW . . . (Fact 15) April 15th
Post by: Larry Surtees on April 15, 2010, 09:44:00 AM
Did you know that the Cookie Wars didn't start over cookies?  JC stated that it was 5 or so years ago, the auction idea started and it just seemed to take on a life of its own. He went on and stated, "I think it was the first year and there were some wonderful donations by our female members and wives of viddles of all sorts. I believe it was Dina Voture's Datil Pepper sauce that brought an exorbitant amount...and well worth it to those who knew what they were buying. Kim (JC's wife) was so overwhelmed with the reaction to Dina's donation, she felt like she might be able to make a difference too...albeit, a small one.  She is a fantastic cook and decided to bake a dozen cookies, in whatever flavor, ingredients etc. to donate to the highest bidder. I don't remember what they went for that year, but it was a lot, maybe $100 or so? The bidding was furious for some reason and it turned into some really good natured ribbing."

Can't wait to "hear" the rest of the cookie facts!  Also, there appears to be some good natured competition from a couple of "team cookie" buyers.  How did they come about?  Thanks in advance again for the "facts" Larry! i for one really enjoy them.  This was a great idea!
