Can someone turn me onto a good instructional video for learning to elk call? Could also use some information on what type/brand of elk calls to use. As always, any info greatly appreciated.
Elknut
Do a search on Elknut....best in the business IMO
Don't call to much or to little :) and use your feet when they turn away from you. The wind is #1, cow call when your moving, and don't forget the wind. Did I mention the wind. WIND. Hoochie mama is a good way to start, mouth calls are key if you don't gag. The bugle can range from what you hear on utube to something you can't believe is an elk. Last season I saw a cow elk with a group of cattle,,, following the cattle calls. Truly bizarre.

Iv got a herd of elk estimated at 300 animals. They move in once a year and don't stay long it doesn't give me much experience trying to call them in.
any advice on seeing if my techniques will work?

Thanks Larry. I'll give ya a call this evening after I get home from work.

Elknut is a great guy give him a call tell him what your looking for and he will set you up with the right stuff.
Agree, Elknut Has everything you need, I would at least get his deadleyer (sp) than wolves I think it is called....good stuff
I like to use a Hoochie Mama and a diaphram call.
I like to mew a little while I'm moving through the woods just to mask my noise.
This has worked for me in the past.
Bugle very little unless it's during the rut and they're answering.
Wind is everything...I LOVE ELK HUNTING!!!
