does anyone here use angel dyneema or angel majesty for bowstring material?i have read it is the fastest of string materials, yet i seldom hear of anyone using it.john
angel is old but good stuff, been around a long time, once a staple of the fita type target folks.
no, it's not the fastest of string fibers - that would be kevlar and that fiber blows up bows as we all found out back in the 70's. :D
imo, we need to stop this concern over what string fiber is fastest. that's not the proper focus. a hunting bowstring needs to be compromise of sorts between stretch/creep, mass weight and durability. add in quiet, too, though it's not the fiber per se that's quiet, it's other factors.
everything from dacron to all the hmpe fibers will get the job done, some a tad faster than others. how much faster? maybe in the neighborhood of 1 to 5 fps. nothing earth shattering or enough to get excited over.
ymmv.
