Title: ? for you ILF folks.
Post by: shortstroke 91 on April 12, 2010, 06:27:00 PM
Currently have a 15" black onyx on the way with a set of #40 long recurve limbs.
I normally like to shoot #47 at my 29" draw so my question is. Would I be better off with #45 medium limbs, #45 long limbs or #50 long limbs backed out a little. A few feet per second doesn't matter to me one way or another I'm much more concerned with smoothness and quiet.

I can't quite wrap my head around the preload and #2 per inch vs #3 per inch.
Thanks,

The 50 Longs backed off with your 29" draw will work better on a 15" riser.

Trad tech limbs are usually a little heavier than what it says-  mine are.  I would get the 45 longs set in the middle and you will end up in your desired range.  Just my opinion.

The TT limbs are marked at the lowest rated poundage.  I had that conversation with them when I ordered.  So backed out all the they'll be 45# on whatever riser they're marked for.

Maximum preload will benefit folks with short or very short draw lengths.  I agree with Mr. Morrsion that you'll be better served to set your limbs at mid-range to minimum preload to find the sweetspot for a 29" draw.

As for the weight of the limbs, I won't say for sure, but I'll guess those 40# limbs will be fine.
