Had a great opening day here in NC. Turkeys everywhere this year and seem to be cooperating. Heres the aftermath on opening day. 15 yard shot. Anneewakee Addiction recurve, Kanati Bow Quiver loaded with MFX shafts tipped with some ultra sharp Grizzlies. 9 inch beard. Calling was done with Joey Buchanan's Wooden Hen. After a day of practice with Joeys scratch box that he graciously gave me....heres the results. Thanks for the gift Joebuck. My son John Davis was sure excited.

Congratulations, John. That's great. Still waiting for our season to start. May 1.
Congratulations, John
Congrats, nice bird, and the look on the little guy's face is priceless.
Yeah man congrats!!! Can't wait for our season to open.
Great pictures.
The boy sure looks happy. I can see a future turkey slayer there.
Hope my season goes as well. I was just looking at that call. Now I know they must sound great.
Tim

Outstanding, John, and a picture for the memories book, for sure. 9" beard, allll riggght! Also one for the Anneewakee Addiction kill gallery, eh?
Geeze, John Davis looks "all growed-up" from last year. Must be that new "Marine Hair Cut", and standing up in the woods scene, in camo gear. How fast they change!
Oh, I got to hear Batman's Joey B. Scratch Box, one evening a week ago or so - and it sure sounded good.
Great job John nice bird. LCH
:clapper:
Good Job John, Thats a great bow kill, Looks like little John is about to take it from ya!LOL, Hoot
Congradulations, and a good looking bird. It's a given that two Johns are better than one. Now be honest, which one of you shot the bird? From the look on John Davis's face he might well have been the successful hunter. :clapper:
CONGRATS JOHN!! thanks for sharing with us...

Don ward, you may be right. Little john is alot better shot than the old man. DB
Don, its all about the joebuck wooden hen call. I called at a big tom 200 yards away and he came running and waited for me to shoot. When he saw I didn't have my bow and the season wasn't open, he went and laid down in front of my Jeep and wanted me to run him over. Yeah, John is good, but its all in the call

Great pictures!
John, thats a nice bird....but is that a tire track on the back feathers??????? :biglaugh: WAY TO GO MAN !!!!!!!!!!
Good job John. Sounds like your day was a bit better than mine.I watched him fly down followed by 2 hens and go the other way.No way those hens were letting him come see me. :(
Thanks everyone for the nice thoughts!!!! John Davis and I sure were excited. If turkeys had the ability to scent like deer ...I believe they would be almost imposible to kill. As far as John Davis goes he loves shootin his bow and can't wait to sit in a blind with pops. I can't wait until he gets his first!!!
Those tire tracks are made courtesy of Grizzly brand raidials(LOL) :D
Hey John when you take your next photo how bout spinning that bow around so we can see that killing machine all that cow hide and carbon is blocking the view :biglaugh: Hoot
Turkeys 2 me 0 i'm glad somebody drew blood.Good job man,see ya soon.
way to go john!
Awesome!
Woops....I'll get a better bow photo next time for sure. This bow Lee is refering to has mojo. :bigsmyl:
Congrads
Way to go John!
:bigsmyl: CONGRATS!
John ...is that a BowTech hat on your head!?!?!?!? Shame on you!!!
I'm just teasing...I still shoot my 'Tech too!
Great bird!
Cook
You got me! I wear it because it is black. It helps me "black out" in my blind. Its also fun to get a little funnin with the trad boys even though I dont shoot a compound. (LOL)
LOL ...I just couldn't help it. I worked in a bowtech dealer for 4 years during college, so I recognized it. :biglaugh:
Awesome bird though...hope to get a NC bird myself in the coming weeks.
Nice, love little John's expression.
Nice bird, can't wait for are season to start.
I DO Believe In Turkeys, I DO Believe in Turkeys, I DO, I DO, I DO Believe in Turkeys!!!
Congrats on a Fine Bird, and a Very Happy Little Boy too!!!
I'm with Batman - I'm beginning to become concerned that we aren't going to be able to fit in the same room with John - now that his son has shown him how to get a turkey :biglaugh:
Bernie
Don and I were deflated a little this mourning. The turkeys showed us who still rules....the turkeys!I'm not giving up on a possible second bird hopefully before the last quarter!!(LOL)
LOL - there's a lot of that going around (in any turkey season, anywhere), John. Was that mis-spelling of morning (mourning) on purpose or was it a Freudian slip? ;)
nice tom, and priceless father & son moment!!
Just saw this for the first time... good for ya John!
David
Bernie
Don and I were in "mourning" (LOL)
Thanks everyone!!
Congrats John!!! I'm gonna be chasing the long beards in WV this year; hope my opening day is similar to yours!
I heard That! (been there, done that too)
