Title: "Bear" Bow Quiver
Post by: JimB on April 11, 2010, 03:50:00 PM
I just finished building this quiver for my Bear TD with Rose Oak limbs.I sculpted a form for the hood and it was made with fiberglass cloth and epoxy-light and strong. The hood was designed to cover Grizzly El Grande's but have a shape similar to the old Bear hoods.I used a center shaft from a Delta quiver and figured a way to attach the Great Northern gripper to it with one screw. The gripper can't spin on the shaft but the gripper can be changed out, just by removing the one screw.I made the bracket arms so I could get the exact angle that I wanted. This also allowed me to get the quiver and arrows as close to the bow as possible.

I believe that keeping the quiver as close as possible to the bow probably makes it less likely to affect the bow's performance. It also makes it less of a brush catcher.

The quiver holds 5 arrows and empty, weighs 7 oz and adds no noise to the already whisper quiet bow.

I painted the hood with Rustoleum Multi Texture paint and of course,it needed a bear emblem and I didn't want to copy Bear's so I painted this one on.

Please don't ask me about building one.I don't intend to compete with our quiver makers and it is so labor intensive you could buy a new bow for what it would cost.Just thought some might like to see it.

I've got a bear hunt in Saskatchewan in a few weeks and plan to use this bow. With the Rose Oak limbs and SBD string with Bow Hush,it is probably the quietest bow I own now.

Jim,
That is just great.  I like the compact size as well as your paint and art work.  It's a beauty.

What can you tell us about your arrows - those a beauties too man.  Did you make those your self ?

Beautiful quiver for a timeless classic of a bow. Those Rose Oak limbs really bring out the best in the Bear TD bows.

Good luck bear hunting with your Bear.

Jim,congrats I really like it.For sure you are much more talented than me.I have to agree with you about the Bear TDs being very quiet bows.So your string and the new Brandon's limbs make it for sure one of the quietest recurve on the market.
