Lisa got a turkey with her recurve this morning. We had to come into town for more ice so I thought I would nab some free wifi and post a couple of pictures. We are headed back in to see if I can get one now.
Bird weighted 23lbs, an 11" beard and FOUR MORE between 6" and 2". A five beard bird!

We had birds all over us from 15 min before shooting time right up until she arrowed this gobbler. Hope I do half as well this evening.

GREAT BIRD!!! :clapper: :clapper:
OK...
Got her bird cleaned and in the cooler, then we went back out after that "nice jake" someone suggested.
We were not in the blind more than 15 min before this dude started gobbleing his head off. I made a few scratches on the call and he would just answer without moving to us. Finally after 30 more AGONIZING min, he started to wander our way. He jacked around where I couldn't get a shot for 10 more min, then finally swung in front of the blind at 5 yards. Had to really sit-up high in the chair to clear the lowest part of the window. After a cleanish release, he went 30 yards and was done. Here's a pic or two.

Sweet!! Good job!
Someone asked about our set-ups.
Lisa was shooting her early to mid 1960's Red Wing Hunter. It is 40# at her 24" draw. Her arrows were Beman Bowhunters (cut really short) with 100gr. Magnus Stinger 4 blades (2 blade w/ bleeders). I was shooting my 60" Quinn Stallion, 48# at 28", but I draw 31" so it was a tad more. I'm shooting Goldtips with 150 grain MA-II (125gr head with a 25 grain screw-in adapter).
Both shots were on birds facing away, and both arrows exited the breast. She got 1 lung and clipped the heart, I double lunged mine. Her's flew a little ways but was easy to find.
We were in our new Penthouse blind. It works awesome!
OkKeith

   Super job!
Hey guys,
Lisa and I sure appreciate all the "atta boys"!
We had a great time. We hunt a 2 bird county, so we are headed back out next Thur. to fill our other tags.
We crossed the big creek on the property and saw 2 more longbeards over there, heard several others, not to mention the one that was with her bird Sat. morning. Plenty of birds to chase.
One of our good buddies on the lease got a bird that was a match to ours the middle of last week as well. Hard to beat NE Oklahoma big timber bottomlands for good turkey hunting!
Thanks again for all the congratulations!
OkKeith
Congrats
Congrats. You should check too- hers may just make the record book!
KSdan, I was thinking the same thing.
A bird pretty much NEEDS to have multiple beards to score well and 5 of them should really help. I'm not much into scoring stuff but I once saw a bird mounted in a gas station here in MO that I believe had a plaque saying it was (or had been) the world record. I think it had 9 beards and all of them added up made something like 63" of beard? That just stuck in my mind and is the only "experience" I have about turkey scoring. I think it said they used the weight, total beard length and spur length.
Dan/Dave,
We have the beards and the spurs but they will have to believe us on the weight. Everything is processed and the breasts are already sliced up to make Turkey Parm with homemade sauce.
We checked the bird in with the Dept. of Wildlife Conservation but I don't know what type of data they keep. Her bird's spurs were a smidge over an inch. My bird weighed a pound less than her's (22lbs) but had a little bigger spurs. The beards were the same length. Mine only had one but it was really thick.
I think some sort of record book deal or something would be GREAT for her. She could care less though. She has the tail, beards and spurs we will hang on the wall with our others and the pictures to add to our album.
The coolest thing is that we were together when we got both of them. What about Compton? Knowing her the way I do, being reconized by a Traditional Archery organization would mean more to her than anything else would.
