Title: Project Cresting Lathe ?
Post by: Slewfoot62 on April 09, 2010, 08:36:00 PM
Visited the local sewing machine shop and the nice lady gave me a sewing machine with a working motor and a nice control pedal. Brought it home and took it apart. Motor spins great and speed can be varied. Now any ideas on mounting and creating a workable cresting lathe?.Pictures would be very helpful. Thanks.

Get Ya a Collet for the Motor Shaft to Arrow Shaft Connection. Some use Medical Tubing, I just Bought the Collet. Believe "Lost Nation" Sells them. I mounted Mine on a 1 x 4, and just made sure the Shaft was Level. You can use a Carpeted V-Block, Drawer Rollers, or whatever. Use your Imagination, just make SURE the Shaft doesnt Chatter at a Reasonable Painting Speed!!
 HAVE FUN!!! I Did!!

I don't know...hard to trust someone whose work bench is that neat and tidy...
(Just kidding Encino Man, looks great!)
I have a hard time finding my arrow building stuff when it is mixed up with my reloading stuff and fly tying stuff!
My bench is a mess!

Yep lpcjon2, about 157 lbs worth of pure lead. Later to be turned into .54 caliber round balls.

Too funny sendero25. All I have to say is don't turn around. Might get snake bit on the other side. Ah, the magic of the camera.
