Title: Bearpaw feather chopper
Post by: R. Combs on April 08, 2010, 05:00:00 PM
I just ordered a Bearpaw feather chopper from Lancaster Archery. Has anyone tried one yet? My vario Clipper doesn't chop feathers as clean as it used to.

I asked if they had them in stock before I ordered it and they said they had about 30 left.

I watched and had a hands on at Kalamazoo when Kustom King had them they cut very well and seem to be uniform.  i am tossing the idea around about getting one and selling the burner.

The feather chopper was tested by various testers in Germany and didn't get very favorable ratings. Most people still prefer either a Clipper ,Clipper Vario or Little Chopper.
I would not sell my feather burner....

I got the chopper this morning. First off, this is the first time I have dealt with Lancaster Archery and I am very impressed with there fast service. The chopper on the other hand, not so much. I have tried about 15-20 feathers so far and have yet to have it chop the whole feather clean yet. Sometimes it doesn't chop the front clean through and sometimes it's the back that doesn't chop all the way through. It's like the blade isn't hitting even.
I am going to give it another try tonight and see what happens, maybe there is an adjustment that can be made.

Has anyone else tried one of these choppers yet? Can't seem to get it to work right.

I like my vario clipper, I was just on Herb Haines web site and I see he is selling his own version of the clipper. I think I will give him a call.
