Title: I can't figure this out HELP!! Update
Post by: lpcjon2 on April 07, 2010, 08:02:00 PM
Ok guys I shoot a Hill Tembo 70#@30 My arrows are 75-80 with 160gr up front and 31",They all shot great. Then I took the rubber whiskers off due to wear and added B Balls and checked the brace and the nock.all the arrows are shooting 4-5" low at 20yrds,I have tried to lower the nock by 1/4" and same result.I got my other bow 65#@30 and shot arrows that are tuned to it 70#@31 with 125gr,and I break nocks.I know its not my form,But I find myself trying to compensate for the drop.I don't want to do that .Any suggestions for what to do? Could it be the B Balls? I am totally stumped and frustrated.I thought it was me but it doesn't seem like it.
I also changed to a 125gr head and didn't affect it at all.    :help:

Did you happen to change the shelf material at the same time?  Going to a softer shelf material will sometimes drop the point of impact.  I use a Martin rug rest, and as it wears, my point of impact rises; when I replace it, my point of impact falls.

Or if you have a gap between your shelf material and the strike plate, is it possible that the arrow is settling too much into the gap?

The thing that strikes me as odd, and I have no explanation for, is why lowering your nock point wouldn't raise your point of impact.

I did not change the rest at all and there is no gap.It shot perfect before I changed the silencers. How far would be to far on lowering the nock point?

Are you sure you didn't change brace height when you changed the silencers? If it was just the change in string weight, lowering the point weight should have compensated, unless you had multiple sets of rubber silencers. In that case, 125's might not be light enough.

lpcjon2, does seem strange.  I know that when I have that problem I'm dropping my bow arm.  H

Could this have changed the tune to the point that the nock end of the arrow is now kicking off the rest and you need to raise the nocking point?

The brace height is 6 3/8 to the center of the string. And the arrows show no wear on the feathers.

In TBM a while back they had a test on different string silencers.  It I recall correctly the b-balls had a slightly higher speed by a few fps.  This could be part of the problem.  It also seems that your spine could be just close to too week and that might have pushed it over the edge.  When I switched to the b-ballls from the whiskers I noticed a difference in arrow tune.

Ok first I got the B-Balls off and put the 160gr Heads back on.The got the brace to 6 3/8 to center of the string.Shot it and was about 2" low.I trimed my fletchngs(they were burned and a little long and high)down to a lower profile and adjusted the nock point and I am back in action.I think the B-Balls slowed it down and the big fletching slowed it some to.
