would love to have a get toget with Tradgangers and do a local stump shoot. i have a great area to do it. beautifull mountain with semi easy walking and great scerenry!!! i know abunch guys of the top of my head that i'm sure would love to go like Bowspirit, Ron W, Cylic Rivers, Haratio and sons, Adirondackman, and a few others. i live just of exit 28 on the NYS through way and we would be shooting about 20 min's from there. was thinking start out early and maybe pack in hotdogs, burgers and such or coming back out for a bbq? would like to do this before May 1 as that is turkey season. would be a great chance to try out new bows and maybe put some face's with names. any interest?????
i am interested but have a crazy work schedule. if it gets going and i can make it i would love it.
Do I have to?
yes Ron you do, i have a hostage ya know!!!!
Man, I'd love to, but I'm out of commission for the next 2 months, having surgery on my bow hand tomorrow morning.
What am I????? Chopped Liver!!!!! ;)
LOL brother chuck, i just figured you were in anyways and forgot to put ya on the list! hope your ready for the turkeys and trout!
QuoteWhat am I????? Chopped Liver!!!!!
More like chopped porcupine :biglaugh:
ken if it were closer me and Joe would come, I'm trying to get my firewood in before turkey and carp season, I have to put up 30 cord for the winter.
That sounds like a great idea!
Chopped pocupine! :biglaugh:
Ken,
Would love to do it. How far from NYC are you?
It be nice to see Brian as well, we both share interest in JD Berry Bows.
Karim
I would be interested in this. Any reason to get up there is a good one.
You know I am in. I'll bring that Kodiak Hunter, if I don't see you before then.
How far are you from Littlefalls NY?Sounds like a good time.....
3Feathers, Little Falls is about 35 minutes west of where we are at. You are to close not to come...lol.
I'd be interested. Would it be kid friendly?
Just did mapquest, Little Falls is like 4 hours from NYC. :( :banghead:
Depends when it is. MHTA has a shoot scheduled 4/24 and 4/25.
That would be a long haul for me too Ken... Maybe you can give up a weekend of turkey hunting and come to my place May 15 & 16...
... mike ... :archer: ...
ok i'm thinking the 17 or 18th, or the 24 or 25. Sat or Sun would work for me on either of those weekends. as a point of referance on map quest i'll give ya 141 Church Road, Johnstown NY 12095 which is my mothers address as it is right where we will meet. this is just a stump shoot bbq, nothing extravagent, a chance to meet fellow Tradgangers and have a good time. depending on the number of people i would hold it on the mountain or a 1000 acre state park. i would be able to show anyone looking for a good place to hunt in the Adirondacks some prime PUBLIC realastate that they could hunt ANY TIME they wanted to ALONE! i share all that i have.
Sundays are better for me. Would love to try to make it.
You know I'll be there if possible. I have this weekend to play and have visitors from out of town the following weekend but  I might have to run a few errands during the day :goldtooth:
The Last weekend in April, well we'll see what temp the Hudson River is at.
I'm sure we'll catch up this coming weekend.
brother Mike,
i really would LOVE to come up for your shoot and see old friends again! i'll really try to make it but your killing me during TURKEY season!
I'll post more as we go, was just trying to see if there would be any interest, loooks like atleast 15 so far.
The 17th or 18th would be good for me; but like Keith said, MHTA is 24th and 25th.
Looking forward to it.
Let me know when Brother!!!!!
(I'll try and come down with some type of "illness" by then) ;)
how about we shoot for April 18th? any and all ideas are welcome.
Sunday the 18th looks like it would work for me. I may have a couple of other guys coming with me. Will see. We live in the Utica area. Did you grow up in Johnstown? I lived in Ephratah and went to JHS. Graduated in 85. Can't remember where Church Rd is off the top of my head though.
Dan
Dan,
i grew up in RockWood and went to Oppenheim, grad in 1989. Johnstown was exactly 9 miles down the road.
Ken,
I spent from 64 to 79 in Johnstown and like Dan I can't recall a Church Rd. Is it in the Meco area?
Grouse
Some of my good friends went to Op/E. They lived in Rockwood as well. Their names were Rob & Jimmy Kilmer. Maybe you knew them. Is it the Church Road off of 29 in Rockwood that you are talking about? That was where they lived last I knew.
Dan
SMALL WORLD as my brother in law married their sister Indie Kilmer!!! yes that is the Church Road i'm talking about! rob and Jimmy lived about 4 houses down from my mothers, her house is the last one on the left.
That is funny. Never know who might be on the other end of the net. What time were you thinking of for the 18th? Unless something out of the blue happens I plan on coming. What would you like guys to bring? Hope to see you all there.
I sure would like to give it a try. I am a old fool 68 that continues to try to master a recurve and so far sure have not done it.
If anyone would like to share driving I am in the area of Oneonta NY...the map quest says from my area it would be about a 1 1/2 trip....most of the drving is easy on Route 88...
Bill
was thinking as early as possible to try to get everyone together. if need be i could put people up for the night Saterday at my mothers and i would stay also.
Bill, would be GREAT to have ya!!!!!
OK. I,m sure you could get shooters from NY, VT, PA
so what's the game plan! :archer2:
well would welcome ALL but had only planned on this being and easy going, have fun stump shoot and bbq. as i said i could make it a weekend thing if people wanted to come up saterday afternnon or night. it is prtty easy walking if you take your time which will be no problem. i am going to hold a early season weekend deer hunt again this year around sept 27 or early Oct, that will be a full blown hunt!
I don't believe you will need to bring anything. after stumping we can eat at my mothers house which is very close to where we will be shooting. i believe i can supply all food and drink unless we approach over 20 or so people then i might need a little help. also ya might want to pack a fly rod. the stream behing the house holds 20 inch rainbows!!!
I would love to Ken, but being as I just started a job, I cannot commit for sure. Time will tell...
I can make the 18th..... looking forward to shooting with you again. I'm sure I can still make it up that rocky hill.
I have a fly rod to pack.... but I could use some instruction on how to get a fly to hit the dang water.....
Got a call and have to plan on another time. I hope all have a good time and do not overkill the trees...
dam Bill was looking forward to shooting with ya!
Yup, I can make the 18th.
How is that Kodiak working out for you?
working GREAT man! think i'm going to head up the mountain today or tommorow and do a little stumping with it. thank you!
headed up for a little stump recon with Charlie!!
what sounds better to everyone, 7am or 8? as i said i can put people up Saterday night if need be? i will be sending many pm's the next couple days. the more the merrier!! i will be showing you prime PUBLIC land that you are welcome to hunt. MANY deer, bear and turkey!
I hope you guys have fun. It is by far a very beautiful area. Just dont take a wrong turn you may be walking a while. :knothead:
I can attest though that a long walk on that mountain is better than a short walk through town. :)
Thanks Ken for sharing :campfire:
drinks are on me or should i say a gift from the mountain!!!

Sent you a PM...ttt

Dan
Hey Ken,
I wish I could make it over for the stump shoot. I went through Rockwood Friday on my way up to a friend's camp for the week-end. But I have to work this week-end. I hope the weather is nice for everyone!!!!
Ron

Your not going to show the "secret" spot are you!!!
Hey Chris... I guess I'll be there in spirit... Cool!
... mike ...

I didn't know copperheads lived around here?
Anyone too afraid to pick that one up, stand back turn around and close your eyes, i'll take care of it for you.

slight change in plans if it os ok with everyone. there is a local resturant/taven that we could sit and eat at when we are done shooting. had planned to cook but this would be easir to sit evereyone and just order pizza, wings or what have ya. sound ok?

Have A Good Time Fellas... I'll be thinking about ya while I Paint Upstairs! :(
... mike ...
brutha Mikey you are there in spirit!!!!! i'll see ya at your place soon!
trying to get directions set. also if ANYONE else would like to make a road trip for an afternoon with fellow Tradgangers i can meet you just off exit 28 on the NY through in the Dunkin Doughnutss parking lot at 7:30. besides meeting a few tradgangers i can show you a couple BIG tracts of prime hunting land that is PUBLIC hunting and VERY good. remembers the early archery NY season starts September 27th so you southern boys could get some quality hunting in a whole MOTNH BEFORE your season starts!!!
For all of you "first timers" you are in for the time of your lives!!!!!
Brother Ken is the best of the best!!!!! Wish I could be there.....
