Well it's the end of a great week of quality time with family and friends. My good buddy Mike Gerardi and his family headed back east yesterday morning. They got here last Sunday and we had a ball every day. I got to know Mike via Trad Gang and spent almost a week with him and his hunting partner Tim Mullins in "08" chasing his OH whitetails and turkeys. Although he's just a pup ;) and from NY we figured out we were brothers with different mothers, (much to our wives dismay).
We did a ton of scouting/glassing at elk hoping to see bulls without horns but it's a bit early so we decided to stay away from them so as to not blow them out of the area before they drop their horns.
Although there aren't large numbers running around yet we did a fair amount of gopher hunting and a few gophers died along with a few horse turds and pop cans. The snow made it a little rough and hard to find arrows but there's not much that is more fun than flinging arrows at gophers.
Just want to say that Mike, Brenda, Garret and Luke are welcome at my fire anytime! Love ya Brother :campfire:

Geee... whats all that white stuff in the background!!!
Thanks for the pics Doug, it's always good to see pics from MT.
Your other lost brother from aussie!
ak.
"She is a Saint for putting up with me" Believe me Buddy, she's had plenty of practice... ;) We're missing you guys too, specially Buster. Sure tickled to hear you made it home safe and sound and a whole day to rest up fore getting back to the grind.
That's just springtime in MT Al, you gotta get back over here again and make it to MT this time!!
The way Mike was shooting on these little targets he'll be tough on a big ol hog. Watched a 33 yard head shot happen right before my eyes, now that's good shootin.
They were'nt froze too hard Joe, the little buggers could still move plenty fast ;)
That looks like fun! A little cold maybe
Very cool guys!
Doug and Karen are two of the finest I've ever met :notworthy:
Mike, Looking forward to meeting you and the family someday soon as well :campfire:
Montana is an awesome place! :archer:
Well I guess someone had to stay home and take care of the dogs!! :(
You guys sure know how to make a me jealous. Calling from Dan Bailey's and Schnee's. Sending pics of muley's and mountains. Boy I'll tell ya... :wavey:
Doug and I walked over a small rocky hill putting a stalk a some Gophers just the other side. At the top Doug as usual spotted one before I did. It seemed pretty far off and I was suprised to see Doug drawing his bow back. Whack!! That gopher rolled up and kicked like crazy. I could'nt believe it! A huge smile had taken over my face and I let out a yell. I paced Dougs shot off. It was a tad over 55 yds from an elevated posistion. Now that was "Good shootin!".
Curt looking forward to it also. I hope to be hunting whitetails with ya soon.
The scenery in Montana takes your breath away. On the way to Dougs my wife was getting frustrated with stopping every mile or so for a picture session. Pronghorn,Muley,Elk,Bald Eagles and huge herds of whitetails. I was in heaven.

Thanks Curt, you know your pretty high on our list too Buddy.
Wish we'd gotten close enough for some elk pics like that, Brenda's camera is pretty awesome. Bright sunny day today, spect the gophers are running rampant ;) Buster and Liz are sure missing all the extra attention the enjoyed for a few days...
Yes,Mike is a world class TGanger.Beautyful Montana.
Brenda has the disk you made Doug. Gonna have to wait until she gets back for more pics. Wish I was after those goffers with ya. Pups have somthing coming via U.S Post Office. The Elk we did see was my first real life look at them. They are just as awsome as I thought they would be. The first time I hear one bugle close, I hope my heart does'nt just shoot out of my chest!!
Felix, You are the true world class bowhunter. I just now made it to Montana...
