Title: Aluminum adapters
Post by: K. Mogensen on April 02, 2010, 04:37:00 PM
Are the Aluminum adapters that 3R sells any good? Would they work, well with a Zwickey Delta or Eskimo?

If shooting 2018 shafts, would you need a 5/16's one to match the shaft, or a 11/32's one to match the BH?

Would like steel but just too much weight...

You could use a 75gr steel adapter with a black diamond zwickey (110 gr), you would end up with a 185gr combo which is not that different from a 42gr adapter and a zwickey delta (total 177gr).

The only problem is that the adapters are 11/32 and the Black Diamond is 5/16.

IMO I would use steel or brass over aluminum due to changing glue on heads off, I had the aluminum break at the end of the threads toward the tip.And I can't get it out of the broadhead. There are other vendors who may carry 5/16

I'll look. I may also look at stiffer shafts. Think maybe a 2117 will do the trick too...

Plugged it all into Stu's calculator and a 2117 shaft is gonna give me a 620 gr. arrow. That's a little much for deer. Haven't seen 5/16 steels either.

I'm getting a headache. I've got the 2018's ordered for practice arrows. They'll have 170 gr. points with em cause I was thinking I was just gonna use a 170 gr. screw in Delta. I can go up to around 185 with em before the arrow starts getting stiff. This is all done on Stu Millers calculator.

I'm not trying to be difficult.
