Just wondering what the most common spine is that folks use for their wood arrows. This would be for Hunting shafts
-
55-60
-
It all depends on what poundage and type of bow ya shoot. You would be better off asking what type of bow and weight people are shooting. Shawn

Actually I am looking to find out what the most common spine is. If I get 100 answers I should be able to get a percentage. I know the bow and length of the shaft will change the static spine. I'm looking to find out what spine shafts most guys start out with.

for hunting arrows I usally go 10 pounds over the bow weight. Example, if my bow is 55 @ 28 I would use an arrow spine of 65-70, nothing below 65 lbs. That's how I have my setup

I have found that the type of bow (how center shot it is) is the biggest difference. A recurve cut 3/16 past center will shoot a much heavier spine than a selfbow of the same draw weight. Most of my selfbows like a spine of about 4lbs lighter than the draw weight. So you might want to try this giving a particular type of bow and draw weight...Terry

Well, the largest number of stick bows are 45-50# bows as I remember. That would mean 55-60# spined arrows I think.

I voted. Nothing more need be said. Except for the fact that the bow and the length of the shaft will change dynamic spine, not static spine. I know that you were thinking of it the other way around. I just couldn't help myself. LOL.

thank you, I stand corrected.

The pole is getting good, the more votes it gets the tighter the percentages are getting. You guys are going to make this difficult on me :goldtooth:

Since Todd Smith up there has seen probably a couple of million shafts go out the doors over the years, I figured he would be right on! :biglaugh:

Ya know Dino, it looks like he might just know his stuff  The guy who owns the local trad shop claims thats the most common spine he sells also. Thanks for the votes and the input guys. :campfire:

Thanks to all who placed a vote.

Old shrew 53#@26" and I use 65-70# 28"BOP for the arrows length

I would think more 55-60 spine wood shafts are sold than any other spine group for hunting shafts.....Van
