Title: Anyone tried the Deerskin glove by KK w/cordovan
Post by: House on April 01, 2010, 07:41:00 PM
Just curious if any of you have had the opportunity to try the new deerskin glove by Kustom King with the cordovan finger stalls.  It's supposed to be a softer cordovan than say the superglove.  Just looking for input because I like the cordovan gloves, just don't like how stiff the superglove is, everyone says give it time, but ya like what ya like.

Thanks for any feedback

Nobody's used this glove?  Up for todays crowd, there's gotta be someone who has some sort of experience with it.

I got on this winter to try out. Nice glove, good protection on the fingers. But for me the fingers seem to bulky, but I have long, thin, boney fingers. I'm used to a Grizzly glove that I've shot for the last 3 years and love it. I dont know if the Grizzly is the same as they were 3 years ago, but I'm gonna be in the market for a new one in the not so distant future.

I have had one since last year. It is a nice glove, but the tips are not cordovan. It says they are cordovan, but they are not. The glove fits me well & has held up great. The release is not as crisp as I would like, the leather on the tips has gotten pretty suede-like with lots of shooting, it is not as slick as it should be imo.

Eric,

I hate to tell you this, buddy, but the Grizzlys are not the same as they used to be. I have long, thin fingers too, and the older Grizzlys fit me perfectly. I have since ordered two of the newer version, and the finger stalls are sized for fingers that are a bigger circumference. They just don't fit as well. Also, the Cordura faces on the fingers are a different material (and color) that is not as nice as the older style. Too bad, because the old ones are my favorite gloves. The 3 Rivers Dura-Glove is closer to the older Grizzly glove than the new model is, but the Dura-Glove still does not have fingers that are as fitted for thinner fingers as the older Grizzly did. The Dura-Glove does seem to have a Cordura that is the same or similar to the older Grizzly. Part of the problem with both of the newer gloves is that the finger stalls are all the same size, probably so that both left and right handed shooters can wear them. That makes the stall for the ring finger way too big. The other two finger stalls are still too big for me, but not as bad as the one for my ring finger. Is it too much to ask for someone to make a left and a right handed shooting glove so that they fit properly? I wish the people who made the old Grizzly gloves were still making them, but alas, they are not. Try both the Dura-Glove and the new Grizzly and see which you like better, but my bet will be on the Dura-Glove.

I've noticed the same thing about glove quality over the years. I had a Damascus glove that I literally wore out after years of shooting. The cordovan tips are still in good shape, but the glove itself wore out.

You can't get those anymore. The ones I have tried have some kind of softer leather on the tips.

Good luck in your search, and if you find anything good, let us know.
