I would like to give a "First Timer's" impression of the PBS Banquet.
We (my wife Angela and I ) got there Thur. just in time to check in and get to the BBQ. Being late Sterling Hollbrook tried to save us a place, but to no avail. Sterling asked a very nice friend to see if he could find a table with four open seats. He did! Right up front. Krista, Sterling, Angela and I were escorted up front. You could have knocked me over with a feather, we were seated with the Wensel Brothers.
They were so gracious, and fun, as if we were life long friends. Even got a picture of Angela with them. How KOOL is that?!!!!
I got to meet alot of my Trad Heros, really too many to remember and mention, with out ommiting someone. All were real people! No Super Egos, as I've run into elsewhere.
If anyone saw a "Skunk" running around...well that was JAG, me!
The seminars were wonderful. Angela got a real kick out of the Ladies Luncheon. She was escorted by Krista and Phyliss, the wives of my friends. From what I can tell they had a ball! I was told, "what happens at the Ladies Luncheon, stays at the Ladies Luncheon!"
Mainly what I would like to say is that EVERYONE should support and join the PBS. Their youth hunt was talked about and was great.
As a new mwmber I was not only welcomed, but accepted, by my peers, and by the People that are in the spotlight. Anyone you wanted to visit with, was more than glad to spend time with you. All you had to do was introduce yourself. You could ask questions, or just visit.
I sure am glad that Krista and Sterling talked me into attending.(Cowboy and Phyl, too) I'm already planning for Portland!
I'm proud to be a member of this group of Honorable Bow Men and Women! They are folks and friends of the highest rank!
Ya'll need to take the time, fill out the app and join, you'll be glad you did!
JAG/ Johnny Gottler
Spending time with Cowboy and Sterling is always a good time - but couple it with a PBS banquet and it just doesn't get much better than that. I really was hoping I could make it up there but it wasn't to be this time.
Hey Skunk-head, its me Seal-back!
Glad to met you ole' boys!
Lets see some pics of the banquet guys. I want to see want to look forward to when I go next year.
Thanks, Phil
THAT is funny! I didn't know if I needed to try and put out a trap-set after seeing the skunk hat and then break out my harpoon for the seal vest...both were neat. Only good lookin' fellas like yourselves can pull those 2 off ;)
JAG I was a first timer too. You hit the nail on the head with your post. It was just cool!
JAG- You always had a smile on your face when ever I saw you. Thanks for stopping by the Brothers of the Bow booth. Seeing that skunk reminds me of the hotel lounge on Friday night at the karaoke machine and open mic. There was a very cool black guy that came in to sing wearing all purple. When he started singing he was absolutely great and sang songs and sounded exactly like George Jones! We nick named him the melanistic 'possum, and we all had a good time.
Mike
JAG,
It was good meeting you in Nashville. Gotta go-Seems I spent more time around you than I thought and need another tomato juice bath.
Herdbull, I was there Friday night. Saw both black guys. They were way cool! The one in the black hat had to be Charlie Pride, and the guy in the purple was George Jones. Enjoyed both, they were great! Man how could anyone not have a smile? Everyone was great. Sterling told Barry, that he brought someone along that was as crazy as, if not craizer than him! Guess he was right.
We were the group sitting on the dance floor, I was wearing my Stetson, for the formal affairs!
Steve, Angela thought that vest was great. She said we have to have been related in a former life!
I'd post a picture of the "Skunk", but don't think we ever got around to taking a picture of me.
Anyway thanks to all for making all the new folks feel like old friends!
JAG/Johnny
Jag-- it was also the first time I attended a PBS Banquet.I didnt get to meet you but I certainly saw you several times in the skunk hat.One of the neatest things I saw in Nashville.I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Banquet, even picked up a few new items and met some new friends.
Mike, I had just about put the kereoke out of my mind and then you bring it up again!....The Possum and Charlie Pride were the only two that didn't make my ears bleed!! :D
Ya mean you didn't like the Screamin' Blonde, or the Dude that couldn't carry a tune in his silly little hat? Granny wasn't too bad, just thought she was 20 again!
I want to take a moment to thank the PBS members for all their graciousness and acceptance into their gathering in Nashville. I helped out with the T.T.A.S. table and generally did anything I could find to assist. I was kept quite busy for sure!!! It was so much fun and very informative. And if Ethan has his way, I'll be a member soon!!!!
JAG, I believe I have a couple pictures of your group, I certainly remember the skunk!!!! And I got a good one of the group that night in the bar with the "Geo Jones singer" that Mike mentioned earlier!!!! I have lots of pictures, but some of the ladies luncheon shouldn't be posted!!!!! :archer:

sniff...sniff....do ya'll smell something?
Might be that rotten turtle in Tomi's belt! Never saw a turkey call like that before- Joey will be lookin for roadkilled turtles all week!
I am always amazed at the goodies Tomi comes up with, but that turtle turkey call may be the topper... Awesome!
Great pics, Tomi! I appreciate you not posting pics from the ladies luncheon! Might make Norm or Mike blush.... :)
Now Biggie, play nice! It was good to meet you, but remember that the "Skunk" can find it way to Georiga!
I just can't say thaks, enough, for the great folks and friendships gained at this Gathering.
One thing for sure...I'll be promoting the PBS everywhere, I go. This is the most Honorable group of Bowhunters I have ever been around.
Cool Pictures Cheapshot!
JAG/Johnny
Jag, it was good to meet ya'll. Will you be attending the Howard Hill Southeastern Classic shoot in Tannehill State Park, just below Birmingham the first weekend in June? I plan to be there so if you see me first give me a yell or a holler OK????? I might not recognize you without the skunk hat!!!!
Tomi :archer:
Gosh, it I'd known how popular that turtle turkey call was gonna be I'd have brought a dozen of them!!!!!!
Marty, I don't think the turtle was rotten...that was just my "cover scent" did it work???? :saywhat:
If I do join....gotta come up with somthing good for Portland for sure!!!!!
Tomi :archer:
Mike, thanks for taking one for the team. Keeping the ladies happy helps us all out. I'm not sure what all happened in there but mine didn't want to quit. I found her in the bar with Whip's wife. They were doing some heavy duty recruiting for the next ladies lucheon in Portland. I heard a rumor that all you guys looked good in red and it wasn't just from blushing either.
Man, I wish I could of made it! I'll definitely make Portland as it's only 100 miles away.
Jerry
Weas I looked for you all weekend. Even when Brenda told me you weren't coming, I didn't believe it.....
It was hard not going, believe me. Without divugling my personal affairs, the finances just weren't there.
I did have a good sulk, however... :(
Weez
Someone told me that you had to be nominated by a member to become a member. If that's so I'll be looking for a sponsor in the near future.
I'm jealous over what looked like a wonderful time.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us who've never been.
God bless,Mudd
Muddman....you can be an Associate Member by filling out the app and sending in the $35.
You have all the privileges except the vote. A good way to see if you want to go to the next step.
Thanks Biggie!
I think I can handle that as long as the app isn't too long and require correct spelling..lol
I'll get one off along with the fee after the 3rd.
God bless,Mudd
Muddy-water,
You can make an "X" right? It's still a legal signature in Mazzoura!

Hey Mudd,
Welcome to the PBS brotherhood!
Mudd...beware, we have some real characters!!!
(see the guy who posted above this one)
and the guy that posted above this one !
...and the guy that posted above THIS one....
(and this one as you already know)
Wish I could've made it. I did go to the Bowhunters of Wyoming banquet. Steve, I think you could win a prize for most pictures in the album :readit: ....if there was a prize. :biglaugh:
Biggoe , Thomas, and Steve are all questionable characters. But Biggie and Thomas are good southerners and Steve is just plain nuts! He has a really big sealskin tab though.
Barney, your punishment for not going is to take all of us characters on an elk hunt, seeing how you live in Wapiti. I'll supply the grits.
"Biggoe"?? Dang I spell like a yankee
This WHOLE BUNCH ain't right!
But they're fun to be around!
Some people have a monkey on their back I have a seal on my back!
