Ok, I've never skinned a bow nor had one that had skins on it. Want to have one unique bow that stands out for me, so, looking for suggestions and ideas. What type of skin would look good with these colors? Riser is Zebra Wood. Was also thinking of a tan colored special made quiver to go with it.
Let the ideas flow! :D

CopperHead would look Great on that Bow..
I second the copperhead.
I think it really stands out the way it is.Skins would only takeaway from the beauty of your bow.
I dont think you can do anything to it that has'nt been done already.
Great looking bow,you can always get a thunderhorn quiver to dress it up. (http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm196/2elkhunt/DSC_0003.jpg)
Bill, your quiver was what gave me the idea of finding one to match my bow. Really love the looks of that one!
You gotta do Copperheads.......
Bill Dunn had a brown colored watersnake skin on his web site that would also look great.
checkereing the riser really makes it look good and has a real function I'd forget the snakeskins just not my cup of tea.

Howler...what is that riser made of?
If you absolutely must skin the limbs, I think that western diamondback would accentuate the grays of the bow really well. However, I second the checkering idea----classic look.
Copperheads no way. Send that dude to Bob Morrison and have him put some Canebrake skins on it. The overall gray color with the little bit of tan and black in them will match perfectly.

Schweet!
With the red stripe in the riser...maybe try to find a corn snake????
It would be unique...as I don't think I've seen many bows with something other than copperhead, canebrake, rattle, or some mammal-print type skin.
Tom, that is definitely a possibility! I really like the looks of those skins.
I also like the checkering idea. Who does the checkering?
I would also like to see the copperhead if anyone has a pic?!

No, Tom! It's all about the copperheads, man! ;) :) :

Morrison's work, I'm told.
That's what I was looking for! Those look real good. Who did the work for you?
Thanks for the kind words. I was told that Bob Morrison did the skins.
I wouldn't change a thing ! Nice looking bow.
Better pic another snake besides copperheads, Nobody has them Having said that west diamond back or cane breaks.
Thanks Mike. I'm getting some PM's that are suggesting the same thing. :D But, if I skin these limbs, I can always get a set that's not skinned for back up.
Are the Copperheads just hard to get a hold of?
Bob has not had copperheads in 2 years they are very hard to find I have looked everywhere.
Looks like I'm going to have to do some copperhead huntin this year.
Shoooooooooooooooot.....
Once it warms up we'll be crawlin' in " 'heads n 'mouths". (copperheads and cottonmouths/water moccasins) The markings on cottonmouths varies a bit. Some I've seen would make a neat limb skin...it might be hard to get a pair of matching "cool" ones though.
Where do you send skins to have them prepped/tanned or whatever you call it to be put on bows?

Just stretch'em yourself. Its easy.
Cottonmouth are easy to find good matching patterns. To prep a skin skin the snake wash with water and pin him to a board scale side down let dry. Do not put anything on it just air dry. Remove from board trim curled belly skin and send to Bob. Let him do the magic.
I wouldn't skin it. I like it better without em... Just me though...
I'd say go with the canebrakes. You'll be waiting a while for copperheads.I wanted them on my Schafer but no one seems to have them. But if that's what you want start a search and don't settle.I think I might go the eastern diamondback route.
I'm liking the Canebrake. KentuckyTJ photo shopped a picture of his Canebrake limb on my pic and it really set off the gray in the riser and side of limbs.
Any other skin types that might look good?
I think the Cane Break looked the best for your bow colors.
Doug, you need to sand those things off there and redo it. Hehe.

Heres one of mine , limbs look a bit washed out because of my camera flash. (http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x132/recurvehunter_2007/PICT0005.jpg)

I'm not big on skins but the red in the skins and the bow give this a beautiful unique look, very nice.

:scared:
Heck no, Tom! Seems as though my copperhead skins may be just about extinct!
Really though, I've always liked timber rattler(canebrake) skins very well too. When it comes to diamondbacks, I like the eastern better than the western. Also, don't forget about the exotic, non-native species. I really love the pattern of the "Gaboon Viper". IMO, the most beautiful snake in the world. Do a Google search on it and you'll see what I mean. Only problem is, I bet they would be almost impossible to get. Boa Constrictor skin is very attractive as well, and probably not very difficult to obtain either.

DOOD!! That looks damn nice right there. I would be afraid to drag that through the brush.
:archer:
Well, looks like Bob Morrison is about to limit his skinning. Any other reputable skinners that I can go to if I don't get it in before Bob slows down?
Sergio: That is a sweet looking bow there. What are the skins on it?
