Title: funny findings with ad shafts and spine calculator.
Post by: jrchambers on March 29, 2010, 12:54:00 PM
im shooting ad trads cut to 31.5 100 grain brass 175 point out of a 70lb at 31 adcock acs.  i had to build out the plate a bit but this is where i cant make them fly bad even with a crummy release.  acording to the dynamic spine calculator i am grossly underspined,  now i am right on the edge as if i put on a 200 or 220 grain tip i can see some bad flight sometimes.

when i tune some gold tips i end up matching with the spine calculator.

I know it doesnt mater what the calculator says but have others found with ads and the calculator.

AD's are a tapered shaft and will not work with the calulator.  It may get you close.

How much did you build out the side plate? Did you sort out your nocking point?

oh yes i did sort out the nock point, it is very touchy and i was actualy moving it too much i needed 32nds instead of 16ths and 8ths.
i built out the side plate two layers of thin tab leather about a 8th.  arows are flying wonderfull even with half the feather gone.  im still about 15lbs off on the calculator but cant see a reason to complain
