Anyone back yet? Looking forward to hearing all about it!

She has not stopped shooting since we got home!

probowsociety.org
the cyber campfire should have some info. soon enough as folks get back.
Got back this morning. Great time. Seminars, presentations were all awesome. Auction was great too.
I think the highlight of the weekend was the young lady pictured above. She won that bow at the Friday night live auction. She was so happy..I mean beaming with excitement. Great to see.
Great time.
Tracey and I just got home. It was an awesome weekend of fellowship with some great people. Got to renew some old friendships and made some new ones,
it was great meeting you and the Girls hogdancer
Can't wait till Portland in 2012.
If you are not a member of this great organization I encourage you to join.
Just got in and what a great time it was! Although my wife and I got in early on Wed. to check out Nashville it was not enough time. We will have to go back. The Maxwell house was a good hotel all the way around(I didn't have time for the internet anyway). Nice layout and close to the highway. Shuttle service downtown was quite handy.
Probably the most notable event was Dr Don Thomas's keynote address at the Saturday banquet. Dr Thomas in his usual eloquent and thought provoking style addressed the issue of the future of hunting. He was able to articulate without offending anyone that hunters are their own worst enemies(horn porn, advertising, canned hunts, ect.) He talked about ethics and fair chase which hit home with this PBS audience. He spoke of the values that are the PBS. This is what the PBS is about and he sought to inspire us all to carry that forward. I can't imagine it could have been done better.
Please anyone else that was there add to this as this is just too important and significant. My words are not doing it justice.
I don't want to make it sound like it was all heavy material. He did start out on a much lighter note by taking a few shots at some of PBS's bigger targets(Wenzels, Biggie and Kevin Bahr). All in good fun and we all enjoyed it. Dr Thomas was as fine a speaker as I have ever had the pleasure to hear.
The highlight to my weekend was the bow I donated ended up going to the fine young lady above. She was soooo excited. I couldn't have hoped for a happier recipient. Best of luck Emily!!
As usual I get home and wish I had more time to talk and get to know more people. My wife and I look forward to the next one.
I must also note that my wife had at least as much fun as I did and probably more. She enjoyed the shopping trip and meeting the other ladies(they sure warm up to each other faster than us guys). And I know the ladies luncheon was a great time but not exactly sure why because: WHAT HAPPENS IN THE LADIES LUNCHEON, STAYS IN THE LADIES LUNCHEON.
See you all on Portland.
Sounds like a great time as always. I've been bumming out all weekend not being there. There is no better get together if you are a bowhunter.
Thomas your girls are precious!!
As far as the other three in your pix, they don't clean up too bad either :notworthy:
Yes Greg I agree, Dr. Thomas gave a great talk, I am still thinking it over, really hit home ! I can't tell you how much that bow is appreciated, she rode all the way home with it in her lap. She was dissapointed that the weather would'nt let us go hog hunting with it this afternoon. I hope she does'nt get the idea to sleep with the bow tonite !
I picked up a bow as well.

I love to see the young'uns with bows in their hands !!!!! Absolutely a treasure to behold, and I think that Dad is rightfully PROUD.
It looks like there is a Blacktail in the house in Mississippi also. Thats a BEAUTIFUL bow. One of these times I'm gonna make the PBS get-to-gether.
Winterhawk1960
It was a GRAND time!! Thomas, I was very impressed by your girls and it was truly an honor for me to share a table with you and your family at the Friday night dinner. It had been awhile since I attended a PBS banquet and it was like a family reunion for me. I saw many old friends and made many new ones. I took a great deal of good natured ribbing from old and new friends alike. And yes, I also did some ribbing myself.
For those of you who missed it- you really missed it!
It sounds like an awesome event! I really look forward to attending the '12 Banquet out here in Oregon. Look forward to getting the chance to meet and spend some time with you guys.
Looks like you did good too Thomas!
Nothing better than seeing a young one, bow in hand, smile on face!
PBS is a top notch organization that believes in the same hunting values that a lot of us do. It would be worth it to stop by their website and check them out if you haven't before.
Thanks for the update!
Glad to see folks are making it home safe.
Looks like it was a great time. I was sick to my stomach when work caused me to bail out Tuesdy...nice notice huh
My wife was very excited to hear the next one will be in Portland. That will leave me with only one of the 50 states I have not visited. Can't wait!
Thanks Don, that means a lot ! I really enjoyed sitting with you, the honor was all mine.
Thanks.
My wife and I got back around noon today. Someone asked me about the cute little girls who were sitting in the Brothers of the Bow booth . . . I didn't know they were your kids Thomas. Real sweeties. I have two daughters of my own.
Greg I couldn't agree with you more about Don's speech. He's my favorite writer and the speech was awesome.
I've thought that way for a number of years. Check out the tv shows, the magazines...its all garbage.
Most of the fellow hunters at work fall right into the same category as far as attitude and image. Heck when I'm signing in at a public area or at a check station I think "Who the heck are these guys". It's all about the kill, the technology, the bragging.
"I got my doe first day, now I can't wait to kill a big buck", "This little buck comes in, so stupid he doesn't see me" blah blah blah. No respect, no honor, no appreciation.
Heck, I'm happy if I didn't see a deer, enjoyed the smell of the woods, an owl hooting, chickadees in the trees, the sunrise....
I can't eat those things but I they sure make you feel better.
I try to convey me message by talking about the hunt, not the kill and all. Most of the time they look at you like your crazy. They just don't get it.
Guess that's why I hunt alone.
Steve O, I saw your name tag! Congratulations !
Pronghorn, you said it... honor.. that's missing alot these days.
Looks like a great time. I hope that I can go one year.
I can't honestly think of my "favorite" part of the banquet. It was all so great. I enjoyed each and every minute.
I really enjoyed meeting alot of new friends and catching up with old friends that I hadn't seen in far to long. Words can't describe it!
If you missed it...all I can say is you missed a great time.
Much of the success of this event was due to Ethan and others who worked the floor and did the "running and fetching." My hat's off to all who "greased the wheels."
That is a stunning Blacktail you picked up hogdancer!
We had a great time, it was just too short. We met a lot of new friends and caught up with some old ones. I spent a lot of time hanging out with Uncle Barry and really enjoyed that a lot. I tried to pick up as much Hog Info as I could from our buddies Matt Shuster and Thomas Burns. Lots of good conversation and hunting plans were made. We regret not meeting everyone but it was a busy day. The youth gathering was great and Chloe and the other kids had a great time. They ended up with some cool armguards..Dad said too be sure and thank the PBS Members who put it on. Mom ended up with some cool jewelry.
We're hoping to spend some more time with Whip later on this week. Maybe a little Bowfishing?
Thomas, Dad and I are ready to get started on your Project. Just let us know.
Here is a few pics....... I have to agree with everyone else, it was a great weekend. :campfire: :archer: I need to go catch up on my sleep, tho.
What a great weekend! Well worth the trip and a priceless chance to spend time with some of the best people I have ever met.
PBS exemplifies the best of what bowhunting is all about and I am proud to be able to rub shoulders with people that are a part of it.
If you have ever thought you might share a kinship with people who make bowhunting their life you owe it to yourself to become a member yourself.
Irene and I are still in Nashville and are going to spend the next week wandering around this part of the country. Sure was good to see so many of you!
Whip- I'm glad you and Irene got back together - there was a time there when one of you went missing. Ha! Mike
I had an amazing weekend. As Joe says, the PBS exemplifies the best that bowhunting has to offer.
The Gathering was a great chace to finally meet some of my online friends & put faces & real names, to screen-names :D
The Saturday night auction was a true eye-opener & proved the generosity of so many folks (Thomas, let me know when you're tired of that Blacktail! ;) )
Joey Buchannan's talk at the banquet was the highlight of the weekend for me. I haven't laughed that much in ages, Thanks Joebuck!
Don Thomas really struck the nail on the head with his speech on Saturday night. I really wish I'd had a tape recorder for that.
Huge thanks to all the PBS commitee & special thanks to Ethan Rodrigue for getting everything organized.
I loved Nathan presintation of his sheep slam Friday as well. Most of us will never get to do that so we got to experience it throuh his pictures
I am really sad for not being able to attend to gathering, maybe next one.
Thomas, congrats for your 2 sweet girls, great Blacktail recurve too.
Felix
Killed us to miss it, but family was in town and we just couldn't reschedule.
Thanks everyone for sharing the pictures.
Thomas, precious young ladies. I hope you spend many happy days in the field with them. I cherish each moment with mine.
Joe, holler at me if you go to Don's, we'll come up and see ya'll.
Thanks Rob for helping out at the auction, you did a great job even though the auctioneer had a hard time understanding your foreign accent .. :)
Skyler, I enjoyed talking with you very much ! I will be in touch!
It was without a doubt the best spot and stalk hunt I've ever been on. The only one wiley enough to escape me was Mr. Browning, but I'll blame that one on the spoilers. Everytime I had him in my sites, somebody else had his attention.
There were so many guys I was looking forward to just meeting, but to the man, they took time to answer my questions or put up with my ear bending rants with more grace than holy figures.
I even found a new workout partner in Biggie. He's got a ways to go yet, but he was ready for me every morning before daylight. Being up and ready to go every day is step one in our 10 step program. Something tells me the next 9 steps will be more interesting.
I've got more thoughts to share later but couldn't wait much longer to say thanks to all you guys for puttin up with me this weekend.
Julian
Sure is good living it thru you guys and gals... Hopefully we'll be there in "12", keep it coming!!
Yes I had a great time as well. And I agree with all before me that a great time was had by all in attendance. Fletcher(Rick), it was certainly nice meeting and talking with you and your wife and sharing the dinner table together. I even had breakfast with T.J. Congrads and his wife Robyn. I also had the chance to talk and meet with some others that were there. The seminars and speakers were great as well. I am already looking forward to Portland, Oregon in 2112. Certainly makes one proud to be a part of such a great organization. I am glad to be a member.
Tony Sanders/aka"SNUFFER"
To expand on Duckbutts comments, I asked Julian to do an mextra mile for me every morning and as you'd expect from a fellow PBSer, he was glad to do it for me. I think my pants fit better this morning....he never mentioned the other 9 steps though....
Sorry about the next PBS date in my previous post, it should of said 2012 and not 2112.
Tony
I had a great time just meeting folks and listening to the seminars! It was nice to shake the hands of guys like Dr. Thomas, Mr Asbell, Mike Mitten, and the Wensel brothers. I had never had the opportunity to meet some of the guys that I consider heroes of our sport...then there was Biggie Hoffman. A legend all his own :) Thanks Biggie for making me feel welcome. I was there alone and didn't know a soul, but I met some great people and look forward to seeing everyone again. It is a awesome organization and I am REALLY glad I went to the gathering! I urge you to join this group of fine bowhunters.
My first and it was so hard to take it all in. Kind of like going to those special places and feeling cheated because you just didn't have the time to do it justice. Met so many great people and at times just sat back and listened in on conversations that were going on everywhere about every facet of what we love. Kevin and the committee did a super job and my wife really enjoyed the ladies luncheon and auction. Strangely enough however she said she couldn't divulge what went on up on the 10th floor. More secrets! As herdbull mentioned it certainly led to a few girls missing for awhile including my wife. So much knowledge out there and you just hope you can absorb some of it. A lot of hunters there that might be considered celebrities in their own right but many more just like you and I just enjoying it all while we can. Here are a few pics of faces in the crowd.

Can we say Hollywood in Nashville. It was awesome being around some of the most friendly and helpful people around. Marty and Biggie, I can't thank those guys enough for the tips and info they gave me for my upcoming hog hunt. And then I was blessed to have lunch with Marty, Biggie, Gene, and Barry. What a lunch. I hope I didn't talk to many peoples ears off but I was just in ahh. Everyone that I talked to and met were just wonderful to associate with.
Hey Mr Rock, I'll see you in the end of April with some pizzas at the club. It was very nice meeting everyone and already looking forward to the next. :jumper:
I'm still recharging from a 15 hr drive but like always it was worth it. It was a pleasure meeting some of you for the first time and I'm sorry I just didn't get a chance meeting others like hogdancer who were there. Rob, I'm glad I finally got to meet you after hearing Grant talk about your pig gig trip. My wife Marg says that every event she attended went well, and no disappointments. That's always a plus. Steve, Grant, Bill and Fletcher, Whip, and new friends, we had a wonderful weekend and we thank you all. God willing, we will see you in Oregon. Thank you!!!!
Shick
yes I am sorry I did'nt get to meet you as well Shick.... I just don't stand out like Rob does. Maybe I can get him to help me with that :)
It definately exceeded anything I would have imagined. I guess the highlights for me were all the new friends made, an incredibly informative seminar on hunting muley's, and Don Thomas' home run speech that still has me charged up.
Wapiti792 and Dirtybird,
Making the new guys feel welcome is what we're all about. We've been "brothers" forever, we just now ran into each other!
Wapiti, I still think you didn't buy enough stuff. That one little bag was P I T I F U L L!!!
:bigsmyl:
Absolutely top notch event! It was great to see so many old and not so old friends. I'd like to point out highlights but the whole weekend was a "highlight." Huge "Thanks" to all who went the extra mile to put it together. Thomas- great to finally meet your girls. No wonder you're so proud. I hope everyone made home safely and look forward to the next event.Rob, Schick- see you both soon. Grant
I made it back to Alaska late last night. What a great one! I tried breaking out of my shy-shell this time and met a lot of folks I wish I would have met at previous gatherings. I just wished it would have lasted a bit longer!
Glad you made it back Steve...now when do we go brown bear hunting ;)
Biggie all I had in that bag was books from Asbell, Thomas, Wenzel, and Mitten (sounds like a law firm)...I needed the Bison Pack guys there so I could pack 'em around the right way instead of totin' 'em in a woman's shoppin' bag :)
Steve..thanks for your help with the presentations. I'm still not sure who was in charge of "seminars" but thanks for stepping up and being a leader and helping get my presentation up and running...you need to run for council 2012, i will be your southern campaign manager.
Mike "BA" Mittin was one of my favorite presentation. He had some qoutes in there that are priceless..His way of hunting is impressive...Plus he's a BA......we may adopt him as a southern boy and redneck-a-fi him
careful Steve, Joebuck was Vargo's southern campaign manager,.... I think he did carry Mississippi though !
I'd vote for Steve.
me too!!!!
I'll run for council in 2020, right after I retire, lol....
"now when do we go brown bear hunting"
Hmmm, I can take a son-in law.....step daughter is about 27/28 (long legged and pretty hot, lol).....you gotta wife that would object?
Well Steve don't think she would mind except on my last solo hunt in the Rockies she made me up my life insurance...gotta feelin' if she saw your last post I'd get that policy cashed in before I make it to Alaska :) Other than that I am good to go,Dad!
It was an awesome time! So great to see everyone. The time went way too quickly. Already looking forward to Portland.
Steve
My wife thought it was pretty hilarious when I told here I was the "AV guy". Normally when electronics are involved she rolls her eyes and make it work while I sit there with a stupid look on my face!
Rob, thanks for the kind comments. It was my pleasure to do it but truth be told I'd say I did way less than 2% of the work. The council really needs to be commended for all their hard work. I thought I had a pretty good idea of some of what they'd have to do to pull this off, but I was clueless! It's amazing how much these guys do, and I don't want to forget their wives. Thanks yall!
And Dirty bird, as far as saying "Hollywood", round' these part we call it "Nash-vegas!
I very seldom post anything anywhere, but I must make exception this evening. Being somewhat of a student of The Thompson Bros., the highlight of my day was, of course, Cliff Huntingtons lecture on Maurice and Will, I know of no one as informed on the subject as Cliff. Cliff is one of the Good guys! I have spent a few hrs. walking thru the woods of Mississippi shooting with Cliff and listening to stories of the Thompsons, the only thing that could have been better is if Maurice and Will were shooting with us. Thanks Cliff for a job WELL DONE!! Check out his book "Toxophilus in Arcadia"
Steve H also did a great job!
Spudley
+1 on Cliffs talk about the Thompsons. I really enjoyed it.
Was it just me... or did anyone else see a melanistic 'possum singing George Jones in the hotel louge on Friday night?
Yep he was there, along with Charlie Pride!
I am probably the last one to add to this post but I didn't want the opportunity to go by without thanking all of my friends, old and new and telling you all how gratifying it was to be with you all again. I also enjoyed putting faces to many of my new facebook friends. In times like these friendships are probably the most important things in our lives, other than family, at least in my life it is right now. Thank you all.
Pip
I had a blast!!!thanks to all the PBS members and their wives who made me feel welcome!!! I assisted with the T.T.A.S. table and general "go-fer" as needed and was kept quite busy most of the time. I couldn't get into TO much trouble that way(until that ladies luncheon anyway!!!!)
Skyler, that's a great picture of us outside!!!
I posted up several pictures under the other thread on POWWOW...."being a first timer" I didn't see this thread before. But I have lots of pictures from this weekend. I am very proud of my T.T.A.S. group and if Ethan has his way, I'll be a member of PBS soon as well!!!!
I always enjoy time spent with Biggie!! And to get a chance to meet so many infamous hunters in this wonderful sport we share was amazing!!!! :archer:
It was nice to meet you Tomi. Keep up the good work with TTAS.
I was asked by Biggie to help out with the ladies luncheon. So after I was escorted (dragged) onto the elevator and we reached the 10th floor – there on the widow ledge sat a turkey-vulture staring at me through the glass. I thought this was a bad omen. The vulture said "You're dead!" as I tried to get back on the elevator.
I shouted, "Hell no! I ain't doing this!" But again Biggie was there to talk sense into me. The luncheon was fine and my eyes were opened to the immense generosity of the ladies! The PBS is lucky to have them. Mike
Mike, you did a good job at the ladies luncheon. I knew you could carry around two large whitetails, but 3 women on your back was pretty amazing...:)
It was a great time all around, and I really enjoyed meeting so many folks that have given so much to bowhunting and the organization for so long. Very humbling experience to an old country boy...
Looking forward to some campfires with new friends and Portland!
This was a nice group picture taken of the ladies luncheon!!!!Poor Mike did have about 3 of us hanging onto him!!!!! That vulture was really trying to get into the room for a glass of wine!!!! and some lipstick...I believe it was female!!!!
Chad, sorry about "outing" this one....but Suzy and I just was having SO much fun!!! You don't look too much in distress tho!!!!
Never did know who ended up with Biggie's work out tools!!!!!!But he looks good doing it don't he!!!!!!
Mike, I enjoyed meeting you and getting the autographed copy of your book, already reading it.
Tomi :archer:
Love the workout tools Biggie! Where can I get a set of them!
Missed you down there Terry, maybe in Portland.
Sterling ended up with Biggie's work out fork and spoon!
I sure hope so Pip! It was painful missing this one! Work and family just got in the way this year. Sometimes you just have to make the hard choices.
Portlands a great city and I enjoy visiting there.
Gee Mike, now I know why your were smiling when you got back to the BOTB booth, HA! What was the deal with all those Buzzards??? (Didn't I teach you anything about talking country? Down here they're just "BUZZARDS".) One of the rascals awakened me one morning when it slammed into my 8th story window!
Gary-
What's the story on your print I bought at the PBS auction? I know that it was on the cover of TBM, but do you have some more details? The combination of the log cabin wall, the yellow leaves, the wool coat and old Bear bow is fantastic.
David
Hi David, just saw this on the way to bed after a long day working in the sun. Thanks for the nice comments. I heard that you bought the print LATE on Saturday. Unfortunately I had to leave the ballroom early due to illness . . . something bad I ate along the way:^(
You know some of details by now, but for those who haven't seen it, the photo is titled "Old Kentucky Hunter's Cabin", which is exactly what it is, an old sagging log building that once served as "basecamp" for local hunters during my grandfather's days. The image was shot last fall when I was scouting the area which is why there is a freshly picked up wing feather in the jacket pocket:^) The bow is a 1956 Kodiak Special and the quiver is an old Bear (metal hood) filled with vintage Bear cedar arrows. If you look closely you'll see that they're tipped with a set of old Razorheads and homemade steel blunts. Fred Bear gave me those heads in 1986 two years before he passed away. The wool hat and jacket hanging on the cabin wall are by Classic Bowman Sporting Woolens. Actually, the jacket is one of only three "Brothers of the Bow" jackets. I have one and the other two are owned by my friends Gene and Barry Wensel. I hung the objects on the wall and composed them with the yellowing beech tree leaves that you see. The tree was literally growing through and around the cabin ruins! Those spots of yellow help to move the eye as it basically repeats the color of the painted arrows. Everything in the composition is where it's at for a reason:^)
I spared no expense reproducing the image; it is museum quality. The paper is heavy stock Sterling Cotton Rag (100% cotton, acid free). The inks are pigmented archival inks. In other words the image won't degrade to any noticable degree for up to 200 years! If you look up archival Giclees you can learn more about the process. It's expensive but I wanted heirloom quality. ALL of the prints in the series will be done this way.
As you mentioned, it was featured on the Feb/Mar. cover of Traditional Bowhunter Magazine. Fortunately, there were so many positive comments on the cover that I was inspired to release prints. Of course you purchased #1 of 500 at the PBS fundraiser in Nashville. I plan on assisting Tradgang with it's Saint Judes fundraiser by donating 50% of the profits made from any print sold to a Tradgang member. Stay tuned.
Here's a snapshot of the print you bought before I packed it for Nashville.

(Note: Hit F5 on your keyboards if the photo fails to load.)
Gary, it was a really nice picture/print. I'm glad it's in TN now!!!!!! David did good by getting it and it's great to read the hows and whys on it's history!!!!
Tomi :archer:
Thanks. My wife hated to see #1 leave the house but it went to a good cause AND it's close to home;^) I had #2 framed for her so all is forgiven, HA!. Numbers 3-500 will be available as soon as I can update my website and work out all the donation details with Tradgang.
Gary, That is awesome and such a great gesture on your part. Your work always amazes me and puts a smile on my face. Very generous on your part. Be looking forward to it on your website.
Gary: I wanted to personally thank you for doing this. Not only the PBS donation but the Saint Judes contributions. You went beyond the call of duty. I also appreciate the fact you explained in detail the reproductive qualities of this great photo. People wouldn't know anything about the high dollar special inks and paper had you not mentioned it here. It's not just "a pretty picture" obviously. Your generocity and expertise is really appreciated my friend. BW
It was my first PBS Banquet. As a vendor I had the chance to meet many more people than I probably would have if just attending.
What a wonderful group of people. I told many how impressed I was with the friendliness, great conversations, and how welcome I felt. Everyone seemed to have a great time. I can't say enough good things about the weekend.
I was blessed to be there.
Art
Cedar Ridge Leather
Art...
Really cool to see your display of all those great leather items. I think it's 100% unanimous that you should attend the next Gathering!
Very shrewd of you to request a location nearest the bar...
Kevin
Art had some REALLY cool stuff. You can tell a fella that takes great pride in his craft...
Here's a picture I snapped of Art.....doing business on the cell phone!!!!! Your leather crafting is amazing!!!!

I got to say that I really feel like I missed out on something really good. I was going to go to see what it was all about, but I had something come up for Friday. I really hope to be there for 2012.
Boy some people would by anything at the auction. Dale bought this Bobbles of the Bow figurine set. I think Mark Wang made the Gene and Barry bobble heads. We had a few laughs on these guys and many more to follow I'm sure.
Speaking of people buying anything. Look what my wife bought. Lots of laughs on this one as well.
Here is the girl that made my day. She fell in love with the bow I made and dad (hogdancer) bought it for her. She couldn't wait to shoot it.
The last picture says it all Greg. Thanks for your generosity.
My girl absolutly LOVES that bow ! can't thank you enough Greg, it's a great shooting bow very fast and quiet.
Greg... are you short or is Emily really tall? UB
Hey Barry, what do you say for making a "30 years later" of the same poster/pose?! I think I noticed 1980 on the other one.
Dern, I just spewed coffee all over my screen.

Barry, you bet Emily is tall. Right there she was the tallest person in the room.
After a 16 hour motorcycle ride home through the pouring, cold rain I am almost back to normal. This was my first PBS gathering and it was impressive. I feel privileged to have attended. The PBS commitment to ethical hunting is something that everyone should be exposed to and takes on as part of their own ethics. Cliff's talk on the Thompson brothers was especially interesting to me with my interest in History. Nathan's sheep hunting presentation was totally enthralling. Don's banquet talk was spot on and something everyone should hear. (One of my table mates asked me if I had supplied Don with his talking points because we had been discussing it prior to his speaking.) And by the way, I am now the possessor of a new 3piece takedown Foley longbow that is a real dream to shoot and will be easier to carry on the MC. (Anyone ever buy a bow because it is a dog and you can't stand it?)
Thanks to all who made the effort to attend the PBS Banquet. While it is our major fundraising activity, the main focus is the fraternal aspect of PBS and the new friendships made and old friendships renewed, all between hardcore, ethical bowhunters. That is what PBS is all about.
I agreed.
Many thanks to Kevin :clapper: You and the council did a fine job!
