Title: Any ranges in far NW Chicago suburbs?
Post by: Scott S. on March 27, 2010, 09:28:00 PM
I'm going to be visiting in the Crystal Lake/Elgin/Algonquin area next week.  Are there any indoor or outdoor ranges in the neighborhood that you are aware?  Thanks for any guidance.

I have been working in the elgin area and have been going to gatt guns. It is on hwy 25 in elgin 2 miles from carpentersville that was the only place I could find around. It is a 20 yard inside range

I checked out GAT Guns online and that looks like it would work for an indoor range.  Thanks.  It looks like the weather is going to be nice enough to get outside, so I'm still looking for outdoor posibilities too.  I see that the Chain O' Lakes State Park has a range, but it is closed at this time.

If you want to go outdoors go to midwest cimmarron, they have a huge excellent outdoor 3d range. they have all kinds of animals to shoot at varying yardages. they even have elevated stands to shoot from. If the weather is bad, they have an indoor 20yd too. Just look for the red barn. Be ready to do alot of walking, but don't worry, enjoy the weather and  have some fun.
