This clinic is ON!
I've got a few more slots for those stragglers but this clinic is going to happen.
Rod was the 2004 IBO world Champion in the traditional class and one of the stars in Masters of the Barebow 3. Rod will bring his no-nonsense approach to shot execution and control with the traditional longbow and recurve. Topics to be covered in the 2 day clinic are;
1 Introduction of 7 steps to excellence program
2 Individual shot analysis and correction
3 Formaster training
4 Practice drills to reinforce the 7 steps
5 Strengthening the mental game
6 Aiming methods discussion
7 Question and answer session
The date will be Oct. 23-24 2010
Looking to hold this clinic on my property in Venus Fl. Venus is in the middle of no where, which puts it in the middle of everything. Its about an hour and a half from both coasts, depending on where you are coming from.30 miles south of Sebring.
If folks are coming in from afar the closest airport would be Fort Myers. Second closest would be Tampa.
Lots of other things to do in the area as well. Fisheating creek offers great canoeing and camping. Lots of places offering outfitted hog hunting. Lake Okechobbee is less than an hour away if big bass is your thing.
Plenty of room on the property for camping.Big oak hammock. Fire pit available. Can probably even get smaller RV's in there but don't have any way to get power to them. Would have to be generator.
Theres also several motels just up the road in Lake Placid.I can provide their info if needed.
We will be having a wild game feast Saturday night as well. Wild hog, Venison,Gator tail. I'm hearing some rumblings about some famous apple cobbler as well! :D
The cost is $225 per person and we would need a minimum of 10 people. Max of 12.
Thanks!
Brad
I am to the South of you. My interest is percked but my wallet is flinching. I have never heard of Ron Jenkins. I have also never been instructed on the proper way to shoot. Who knows I could be doing it all wrong for all these years.
I spent 2 days with Rod when i first took up trad archery last May and its the best money i ever spent concerning archery.
TTT with a little more info!
up one more time with actual dates
Brad put me down. George
Bump this up here in case any of the Ga. folks want to head south this fall. :-) I've still got a few openings.
Rod isn't just an outstanding archer, he's also an outstanding coach. No mistique or magic--he's to the point and doesn't have any secrets.
Don't think he's just a preppy target archer either (once you see him that image will vanish--lol)--he's also an avid hunter with gobs of kills under his belt.
Don't think for a second his method won't work on moving targets either--he can knock out "bow birds" with the best.
Chad
Count me in if you can get Rod to come to Florida.
Gotcha down on the list John. Sent a PM as well
Brad
If you do what Rod teaches, he will help your shooting.
His guidance has helped me a ton.
Back to the top! Got 3 spots left!
We just had Rod up here in Hood River and I must say it was the best 2 days spent with a bow. I really think that my shooting will improve at least by a 100 percent.
I hope you can find enough folks for to get him down there.
best of luck
SS
Back up top! Still need to have a couple more to make this happen.
I'll be sending PMs in the next couple of days to everybody that has said they would be there to verify that they still will be.
Just do it, you won't regret it!
I took his clinic at 3rivers two weeks ago and I am so glad I did. Today was day 11 of my 21 day drill prgram. It was incredibly helpful to have him in person to show me what I saw on Barebow III, but couldn't really understand conpletely from a video.
He is one of the few guys who can teach and do!
Just finished Rod's first clinic over here in Australia. Was awesome and really helped me out. A must do I reckon.
Thanks for the recomendations guys. All I have heard about Rod's class are good things. Thats why I'm trying to make it happen down this way! back to the top!
TTT! Maybe some of the Florida boys haven't seen this yet?
Back to the top. Still need a couple more folks.
Rod's class was awesome, did it with 3 friends which was a big help to compare notes later. We are all much better shots now. I also learned a lot just getting to visit with Rod about equipment and other issues, he is a wealth of information.
Sent PM!
Got ya down bonecracker!
Just sent PMs out to everybody that has expressed an interest. We are getting close!
Back to the top! Come on you Florida guys and gals! This is your chance to get Rods clinic!
Anybody have any suggestions on where else to advertise this? Never thought I'd have a problem filling the spots.
Back up there!
I've working on a wild game feast for Saturday night as well. Wild hog, Venison, Gator Tail.
Back to the top! Gotta be a few Florida folks that want in on this!
Swampdrummer- it's already way into our season or I would- I have several out of state hunts and don't like missing local weekends here. Don't wanna change shooting in the middle of the season. Sorry or I would come.
Marty, The south season for deer on private land, STOPS from the 17th of October till the 20th of Novemember. Or something close to that. I don't have the dates in front of me.
My thinking was have the clinic then it gives folks the 3 or 4 weeks to do his 21 day blank bale drill before the season starts back up.
But my thinking may not work. And I know I'll never find the perfect dates for everybody.
I'll keep hollering until Rod tells me he needs the deposits now and I'll either have enough folks or not. If I don't I'll try again in the spring.Sometime between 23 degrees and spring gobbler..... :D
Good luck. I'll be huntin somewhere- believe that!
Thanks Marty,
If it doesn't happen I'll be heading up to NC for a week of whitewater paddling then back here to stick pigs till deer comes back in. So either way, Lifes good!
back up top! We are on! Got a few more slots so those that are thinking about it. Drop me a line.
Back to the top! Still have a few openings. Noticed a couple of new folks down this way that might be interested if they saw this..
Up again!
ttt
get back up there!!!!!Still have a few more openings for this one folks! The skeeters have laid down and theres just a hint of cool under the live oaks. Should be a really nice weekend to spend learning from the best!
ttt
ttt
wish i could afford it. sounds like fun!
I do understand the money stuff. Its tight all around. If this one goes well I'm going to beg Rod to come back in the spring. But for now. back to the top! Still have room here folks!
ttt
Bump!
Back up there!
Starting to cool down this way. 60 degrees this morning. Skeeters are slowing down. Should be near perfect weather.
Any of you south Florida folks that are concerned about this being in the middle of hunting season. Remember that on private land. The deer season stops for a little over a month starting right when this clinic happens. Gives you time to do the clinic and the "homework" and come back into the last part of the season a better archer.
Ok, thats the best sales pitch yet! :p Still have a couple three spots left for this clinic.
Don't miss this chance! Rod doesn't come this far south very often!
Back up top! Two weeks out. Still have a few spots available.
BUMP! Getting close! Still have a spot or two left
one more time!
Brad's persistancey and my shooting inconsistancy did it- I'll be there!
Looking forward to seeing you again Marty! Trade you some cobbler for some humor.
Brad great to have met you on Sunday. I will be coming.
PM sent
Marty how many blank bales we gonna have to buy.
Great to meet you as well Les! Even if it was Saturday :-) Sent you a pM and an email with the details. See you Saturday!
Brad
Rod does a great job in his shooting clinics. You will learn a lot no matter what level shooter you are.
This is a bargain considering how much we spend on hunting, bows and all our gear.
I got Rod out here to Oz a few months back for a few clinics ...
great bloke who breaks down the mysticism so often associated with 'trad ' archery and gives you some tools that are easy to understand but WILL make you a better archer !
He came hunting with us a few times and the man understands hunting and what it takes to get the job done in the field .
He is what is referred to in Australia as ' a good bloke ' ... no B.S' and as generous with his time and knowledge as a fella can be ...
I recommend Rod's coaching without hesitation ... best money you'll spend in archery ...
PS ... MY girlfriend liked him so much she is inviting him to our wedding ...
pity I haven't proposed yet !!!
That is what I love about the property. I loose track of time
The time I spent with Rod out here in the one we did in Oregon was the best thing for my bow shooting form. It has put me on the right course and I now have a way of refining and correcting my shooting really for life! Best money spent. Thanks again Rod!
You know I think Rod has this work thing all figured out. Up in the beautiful Northwest in the summer, down in the sunny South in the winter! haha
It's unfortunate Rod will meet his biggest coaching challenge in the palmettos this weekend. Everything I hear about Rod is over the top and a class act but bless his heart........because..... he has not met Marty. The Floating Anchor!
HAhHhHAhHAHAhHAhHAhHAh!!!!!!!
Sorry Marty......I couldn't help it
wish I could attend..January& Feb are the better months for me, maybe yall can have another one next year??? a floating anchor or short draw is what I call gap shooting....

Maybe she's inviting him as your stand in...
Joey, Joey,Joey
This coming from the guy that ....... I don't have the heart- you tell em. I consider it to be top secret-Only a handful know and you come out firing at me like that???? Batman laughed for an hour on the phone last nite. that's all I'm sayin. Let he who throws the first rock (sumthin like that)
he can get you to full draw and hold for 2 seconds...Batman ,Biggie and I will pay for your lesson?
Premature release has always haunted me. Some call it a floating anchor. Lookin forward to help rather than criticism from my friends- tough crowd I run with.
Marty my friend, you have to get somewhere near your face
To have a floating anchor. The inside. Of your elbow doesnt count.
Poor Marty :(
Marty, keep an open mind and listen to Rod. You'll do fine. Nice talking to you last night. Don
Marty,
I've acquired the use of a video camera so when Rod gets you tuned up we can get proof and you can get your buddies to cover your clinic fee! :D Great plan eh??
Still have a spot or two open folks. If any last minute folks want to jump in, drop me a line!
bump it up one more time........ Just in case ;-)
Ok, Last time to the top! I'm picking Rod up in the morning and come Saturday, bright and early, we get down to business.
Still have a couple of spots open if any of you South Florida folks want to jump in. I don't know if he has ever come this far south and who knows when he will again?
Everybody headed this way tommorow, be safe on the road!
Till then
Brad
Marty, the bear at BQ didn't care too much for your premature release, but then again the buck Barry describes in Kansas didn't mind. Good luck with the clinic, wouldn't mind attending one of these myself.
Just put Mr. Rod in a stand that has more hog sign around it than empty candy wrappers in Barry's truck- that's a lot! We'll see if he can shoot as well ad teach! Ha!
Joebuck says I am hopeless- I'm tryin to be teachers pet here! I need all the help I can get!
He says- no shots. There were 2 arrows stuck in the ground, but he says "just" practicing.? Maybe. They were touching each other.
Want to thank you Brad for making this all happen.
Great clinic Rod..I now know what I have to do. Appreciate the time and the effort you put in.
I'm sure I will be calling over the next couple of weeks.
The pleasure was mine Les. Good times, good people and I think we all learned a bunch more than than we could have hoped. I know I did! Did my first night of drills a while ago. Only 20 more days to go before the bridge!
Well I finally made it back to North Florida in one piece considering I-4 was a nightmare passing through Orlando. Thank you again Brad for hosting the Clinic on your spread-what a nice place. I think I can speak for everyone when I say the clinic was a complete success. Kudos to Rod for his teaching ability. He sure is humble for a man with his creditials. No doubt I will be a better shooter following his shot sequence...As for Marty, Thanks for the good laughs we all shared. You're since of humor is off the charts. All deer camps need a "Marty"!
Thanks again, Richard
Thanks again Brad for hosting the clinic and your hospitality. The clinic was great as was meeting everyone.
Brad thank you for your hospitality I had a great time and learned alot. Rod is a rhomboid buster, but the method works.
Thanks go to ya'll for coming out! Wouldn't have happened without everybody else making the effort to show up. All I had to do was sit back and enjoy!
Hmmm, Rod the Rhomboid buster.... Kinda sounds like a pro wrestlers name don't it? :D
Ya'll want to do it again in the spring?? Be on the lookout for an email in a few weeks.....
I spent a long time playing with the string and

Hurts. Just reorganized garage to accommodate indoor bag and finished my drill few minutes ago.
Made up a foremaster using some old parachute straps I've had laying around. Also made up one using some webbing. Both easy projects. I happened to have every thing I needed in the house. If you were to buy material would only cost a couple of bucks.
I'm about to go out and do my drills for the night as well. Found out last night that the drills are MENTALLY exhausting. At least for me. Concentrating on each specific portion, one at a time. Mentioned it to Rod on the way to the airport this morning and he said its normal but will get better.
