Sometimes I am pretty smart :goldtooth:
The first time I shot Brian Wessel's personal bow, I told him if he ever started selling them, I wanted the first one...that actually turned into the first two, a RH for me and a LH twin for my buddy Chimaster.
When we took delivery of the first set of twins, as soon as we shot them, we got on the list for another set of twins. My smart move was giving Brian a deposit for not only those two, but three more for me...I wanted a beater, and a one piece recurve and 3pc longbow when he got them into production.
Here's the "beater" :D

I asked Brian to make one as "frilless" as he could. He came up with no overlays, DymondWood riser, and black glass limbs with phenolic wedges and tips. I plan on getting it camo dipped and this bow will become my workhorse. I won't feel bad when it gets beat up in the mountains.
Depending on the timing of my dipper of choice, it may be before or after turkey season when I get the final finish on it. Until then, it will blend in just perfect inside the Double Bull ;)
Here is a shot of the limbs:

60" bow and 56# @ 28". An EXACT match in specs of my first TT (Cocobolo/Tulipwood).
Congrats on your new bow!
Very nice Steve !!
Very nice!! Congrats.
Nice Beater. My next set of TT limbs will be beaters.
good luck with it.
All the best against the turkeys, Steve!
Great bow Steve. I'm looking forward to seeing Brian's 3 piece longbow. I've already cleared out a spot for it... :D
Steve,you are too smart.LOL
You know, after shooting this baby all day and admiring the craftsmanship, I am having second thoughts about covering it up.
Take a look at the detail...

I don't know if I will ever get over how nice these TallTines feel and shoot. I am impressed with every arrow
Nice lookin' bow Steve!
So are you shootin' an elevated rest with Blazers and FMJ 400s out of this bow?
Enjoy!
Shoot straight, Shinken
Very nice Steve, like you I can't wait to check out that one piece recurve. I"m going to get on that list.
Not too bad of a beater bow, good luck with the turkeys.
My buddy got his TT yesterday, and WOW what a beauty, smooooth, fast, and very quiet. Mr TT has it going on!
Dave,
340s
Yes this bow will be set up with an elevated rest and will shoot broadheads equally well with Blazers, QuikSpins, or feathers. I plan to spend a couple of very wet weeks in Alaska this fall and want to be prepared ;)
Just to show I am not against the shelf, here is my last TT...

SealSkin low and tight
Thank you for the feedback Steve!
Do you like the quikspins equally as well as the blazers?
Sounds like a great trip in the works for 2010 - what tags will you be carryin'?
Shoot straight, David Camp
Dave,
I actually believe the QS work a little better than the Blazers, but they are a bit less durable.
This bow is going to be flown into a little lake on Prince of Wales to see if it can't help me cut down the black bear and blacktail population just a little bit.
Nice!!
Tracy
That bow has me intrigued Steve O. Out west here we don't get to put our hands on them but I take your word for it.
This bow looks like the prodigy offspring of a Schaeffer for a daddy and a Wapiti for a mommy. Very interesting.
I'm contacting him tomorrow.

Vey nice, Steve! I have a "plain Jane" Adcock longbow that I got from Tippit. To dress it up, I put a set of diamondback limb skins on the limbs. Now it looks as good as the bows with the real snake skins and has natural camo to boot!
Claudia

That may work Miss Pinecone...but I am still going to make a couple calls tomorrow about camo-ing it up. Stay tuned :)
Steve your indian name must be "man of many tall tines" man do you have some great bows. I chatted with Brian over the weekend over my wood choices. I don't think it matters, cuz all his bows look great. I hope you have some luck in Alaska, sounds fun. Oh, about the camo-dipping, you might want to cantact Bob Morrison, I'm pretty sure he does that now or knows someone that has done bows for him before. Thanks for the pics.
David,
I like that better than Cheif "Running Hairline" :D I am sure you will be happy with whatever wood combo you choose...even the most basic as this is pretty sharp.
Thanks for the tip. My first lead on a new camo finishing process turned into a dead end when it was finally revealed there was a 250F curing process...NOT good for a recurve!

Yes Dan, I am in contact with Big Jim right now...just checking on pattern availability and timing. Thanks.
Hey Steve you have got to stop buying these bows! Every time I turn around your getting another one. It doesn't take me long to feel left out and order another one too. I've been thinking about our Alaska trip, and maybe thats a good idea not to take the other sweet bows. I'll probably have to get one like yours if nothing else as to say now we have three matching bows. Can't wait to see it on Tues.
Hey Steve I forgot you said Brian is going to make a 3 piece longbow. I better start saving my money, I'll have to have one of those too! I should have never retired. :biglaugh:
Brian does some mighty fine work. I love that Bocote bow. Excellent Bowyer!.........we missed you at PBS...
Joey--wish I could have went--especially now as yesterday we lost the business I was working so hard to keep :(
On the bright side though, I shipped my new bow to Big Jim for a good huntin' bow finish last Wednesday and it came back today...Oak Leaf is the pattern.

I am going to make a BUNCH of memories with this bow
SWEET! As far as those memories...I know of a big color phase black bear that would look good in pictures with that bow. Sound good?
Nice touch on the bow Steve. Sorry to hear of the business news...Ryan
Ryan,
That sounds like a GREAT plan! Looking forward to hearing all the specifics on the new operation you are starting
Saw Steve's bow in person at the club last night. Really a nice job of dipping. Just amazing how perfect the camo looks.
Nice work Big Jim!
Steve, You missed your chance to get #00001 on the 3 piece longbow. It's going to be a Cheezehead bow.
Bowmania
looks beautiful and it should shoot real niiiiiiiiiiiiice.
congrats
jer Bear
thats a cool camo job...dont know if i couldve dipped that pretty bow, but it looks like you have other lookers, nice bows
Steve,
You'd better not set that bow down in the woods and turn around, cause you'll have trouble finding it!
Todd--I don't want to be a glutton ;) 2 out of 3 isn't bad.
I should be getting to the woods pretty soon and I'll see if I can't get a couple pics in its natural enviornment.
ttt for Joebuck...
The camo dip is so detailed, if you look closely when you have the bow in hand, you can see little water droplets on the leaves that are in the pattern!
Very nice looking bow! I have some 340's FMJ Arrows that I shoot with my compound, would love to have more arrows to shoot with my recurve, Can I ask how many lb's your recurve is? I was concerned about the arrows being spined too heavy for my bow (my grandfather gave me his 50lb Indian Archery Hawkeye recurve that he bought new in 1970-71 ish) Haven't had a chance to take a deer with it yet, but am working on tightening up my groups!
GREAT LOOKING BOW STEVE O.
Andrew
Jacob,
That bow is 55# @28". I draw 30". The arrows I shoot out of it are full length 340s and point weight averages 250g. Good luck with you adventures.
My Kinda Bow! :archer:
Steve, as always looking forward to the future stories this bow will tell us :) :) :)
Steve, with that solid dark limb you could "beat" a gobbler over the head before he spots it if he get close enough!!
Nice bow Steve! I always wanted to try a Tall tines! Looks buttery smooth
