Title: Do you think these 2 dead bucks are related???

Before you answer I have more picks but a quick story about both of them.

The white rack we found the day my youngest son shot his first turkey when he was 10yrs old and he is now 21yrs old. The deer had been dead a couple of years already. I just stuck it up on the barn with some of the other racks but always thought it was a cool rack and would liked to have seen him alive.

The other rack I found yesterday while out shed hunting. I couldn't believe it when I saw how much it resembled the rack I had on the barn.

The first thing that caught my eye was the flattened out beam on the right side.

  (http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac248/TmPotter47/tipi%20picks/skulls5.jpg) (http://s904.photobucket.com/albums/ac248/TmPotter47/tipi%20picks/?action=view¤t=skulls5.jpg)

So does the other rack.

More picks coming!!

That looks like the same gene pool to me. It would be cool to do a DNA test  :)

It would be really cool to sneak up on somethimg like that during the season....

Nice finds !!

If they are from the same local, I'd bet the farm that they had some genes that connected in the family tree.....kind'a neat.

The left sides both have crazy splits in the tines.

I think there related too but I wanted to get everybody else opinion too. There is at least 10yrs difference between them and they were found about four miles apart witch I know is plenty close to be blood.

I just can't believe the similarities between them and that it would carry down that many years later. Sure typical's are one thing but it's hard to find two non typicals that close.

Regardless, I hope I get a shot some day at one of there kids passed down and I am going to clean them up and re-stain the racks and try to fix the chewed spots. I plan on displaying them in my shop together and I'm happy to have them.    :D

Thanks for looking!!

I no scientist but from the looks of the racks my gut feeling is they came from the same gene pool.

Don't think so bud!! It's obvious to my experience eye that one of those was an antlered doe. Of course I could be wrong about that. LOL
 :D

You don't happen to have a turkey tied up somewhere I could poke a hole in?

For whatever it's worth, I agree with everyone.
Too many not so common similarities.
Definitely related.

I'd say so. That's kind of neat. I like a rack with character. We have a 3x3 gene around here that's pretty strong. Wish some Massive Non-Typical would stop by some November!

From what few bucks I've seen living (while hunting) I have no doubt genetics can produce nearly identical racks.

Unfortunately, I began noticing this because they all had the same deformities.

On the flip side there is strand of AMAZING 3-pointer genetics running through my woods. Can't decide whether a 100+" 3-pointer is bad or neat.

Cousins, brothers, father/son...twins?

Yes to all the above.

You've messed up now though...you'll be searching for #3 the rest of your life  ;)

They sure appear to have some coomon genetics.  Deer racks in our area have a couple common traits that show up over and over through the years.  Any thoughts on the comparison of the "Hole in the Horn Buck" killed over 50 years ago and the "Beatty Buck" killed within the last ten years.  They have lots of common unique features and were killed in a close proxomity of each other.  I'll bet there has already been testing done on both to see if they were related.
