I have a 62" GN Bushbow and I have always shot aluminum arrows mainly for their price, I had a few carbons which I also liked. Recently I bought a dozen Beaman 400 ICS's. My goal was to end up with an arrow that I could shoot equally well from my longbow or recurve. In the past I have cut my arrows to where I had an inch or so of arrow past the shelf at full draw then adjusted the spine with tip or insert weight. This time I started with the 32" stock length and a 100gn brass insert (using the longbow), first try the spine was a little weak so I cut of 1/4 " and that was all it took. They fly beatifully from both long bow and recurve. All things being equal do longer arrows just fly better that shorter ones? It sure seems to me to be the case. The Beamans are almost 3" longer than what I had been using, whether carbon or aluminum.
Don't know if longer arrows shoot better than shorter arrows. I have a 30" draw length and I shoot 32" (BOP) arrows. The 2" extra length out if front of the riser is to keep the back of a broadhead from cutting my knuckle on my bow hand if I overdraw slightly. I draw and hold before I release an arrow.
I have a DL around 29". I've not been at this game very long but I've never cut an arrow for trad equip...my tuning has been with done almost solely with point weight, and side plate.
Longer arrows do give the fletching better "leverage"...but they make getting a higher-than-normal FOC a real challenge.
I really really like the idea of having arrows cut to a specific length and using your knuckle as a draw-check...but I've not gone there yet. A ring of pinstripe tape on the shaft will do the same.
Other than quivers...I can't any BIG disadvantages to just leaving them full length. In the compound world everybody screams about unnecessary arrow weight because of speed.

I don't belive longer shoot better than short,,it's all just a matter of where a particular arrow tunes for you.
When I started shooting I had it driven into me that an arrow "had" to be a particular length or it would show that you didn't know what you were doing.That old thing has stuck with me ever since,,,but it was never really true,,,just go with what works for you.
If they fly perfectly they are the correct length.
Carbons arrows don't come in as many different spines as wood or aluminum.You start full length with the weight you want up front and shoot and trim.Trim them alittle at a time until you get the right dynamic spine needed.You have found your dynamic spine that shoots best for you.Alot of guys don't really like a long overhang,but that is the nature of carbon arrows.For me I let my bareshaft tuning dictate the final length of my arrows.With wood and aluminum I would try to get an arrow about 1" past my draw,but you have more spine choices to pick from.your arrows are 3" longer,you could possibly drop down a spine and less weight up front and end up with a shorter arrow.Your arrows are flying fine,I would leave them where they are unless the longer overhang bothers you.
I tune what I want for point and insert. What ever the lenght is fine with me. My current arrows are 31" for one bow and 30 1/2" BOP for the other. I draw about 29 1/4". I think a longer arrow helps your brian aim.
