I finished this new armguard, for the Tx Hill Country Shootout.
I am trying to learn to carve animal figures, detail is difficult yet important. (http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss315/Mikey1949/elkarmguard.jpg)
Let me have it, is it OK, good, paying good, or needs improvement. (If it was a giveaway I know it would go)
I dont intend to sell em, just looking for a lil advise.
Does it look like an elk??
Thanks
Mike :campfire:

Looks good and definately looks like an elk. I would say it is close to selling good. Keep practicing you will be there in no time.
Looks like a give-away to ME :bigsmyl:
Nice work :clapper:
Just learning? Looks like you have been at it for years.
I think it looks great.
I think it look GREAT! :archer:
I'd buy it! Nice work.
If it were a muledeer i'd have to get the check book ready. Nice work.
Thats a great job I would definitely buy it.
Looks good - rock on Mike! H
Looks great. Nice work.
Very nice! Hap
Looks good to me. Nice Job!
Job well done.
I'm getting into tooling too. Alot of fun and it really adds to a leather archery piece.
Nice work
very nice, you have got some talent!
Looks very very good to me! Would be proud to wear one of those!
Mike, very nice work on that elk. With your talent -- and don't take this the wrong way -- but since you did such detail work on those antler points, have you considered adding some mountains, trees, sky, etc. as a "background" instead of the pattern background? I've never done any leather work, so it might not be possible. I can see you are talented enough to do that as a background if you set your mind to it, but it just might take too much more time. Again, I'd be proud to wear that right there as you did it. You are an artist for sure.
Just one question-
Where do I place my order?
Great looking piece of workmanship there.

Man, all you guys are very complementary. As you probably know it takes a lot of artsy time, JEJ, I got the antlers down a couple of carvings ago, its just those darn faces and eyes that I have a hard time seeing if you know what I mean. This arm guard was meant for personal use and I was practicing "elk faces" so I did an easy repetetive background. One thing about it It will last for a long time.
Yes I can do the trees and mountains (your right its just more time). Some days I would rather be shooting the bow... know what I mean.
I appreciate all the time and looks, which is why this is such a great place to hang out, with like minded fellas (and gals).
