Title: joebuck's wooden hen call
Post by: owlbait on March 20, 2010, 01:49:00 PM
Just got my call from joebuck yesterday. I've already been banned to outdoor practice or when the little lady is gone! Great tones and LOUD! I'm anxious to try it on some birds. Now if that seminar stuff works with the call I should have some hero pics with my new Addiction Recurve this spring

Owlbait, carry extra chaulk!..had 4 "bugling" as Gene W. says this morning at the popping cluck...you can get light on it by moving your hands over the sides...practice on it and remeber to drag that locating cluck across the striker......i'm getting real close and my wife is getting close to strangling me...thanks.........got all new stuff for PBS

I took my Wooden Hen from Joebuck and my new wingbone call from Guru. All I saw was game wardens. I did learn that I need to practice alot more with the wingbone.

My Wooden Hen matches my Swamprooter bow. Made from the wood Joey cut out of the riser

Mike, try a makeing a stiker out of puppleheart and one out of zebrawood and then go down across the tracks and run a series with both of them at the same time. Be careful though. LOL. I love my wooden hen. thanks Joey. DB

I'm gonna have to get me one of them joebuck calls!  I've always been a mouth call guy but I have one old box call that I carry on windy days and I've been practicing with a wingbone that I got from Bernie.  I really like the tone and pitch of a box call and would love to add a real good one to my arsenal.  I'm gonna have to keep my eye on the sponser class, hopefully another joebuck will pop up real soon. (hint, hint, wink, wink)   ;)

Hey Kenneth, the wooden hen aint no box call. It's a special secret call who's design was handed down to Joey from his neighbors great grandfather, who's grandad was an apache who use to hunt rio grande turkeys in southwest texas in the mid 1800's. lot of history in these calls, but not a box call at all. If I cut a striker the same size will it work? Or is there some "REAL" tuning that has to go on? Us Yanks are gullible  :bigsmyl:  I know I need the practice because I was outside and had to plug MY ears today. When I get it right though....

Chuck I have the last season. Maybe if your season is right I could get invited to a carp shoot and leave the call for you to use...Hini..Hint
Biggie your right, joebuck just emailed me that the use of other strikers was strictly prohibited and violated some kind of treaty!!!

I didn't think it would be delivered till MONDAY! That is a classic that I kept on the wall with my beards. Never used it and I thought you might enjoy it. The man is a craftsman just like joebuck.
