Last elk season taught me that a leather arm guard could be too hot on a lot of days.
Anyone have opinions about vented armguards? Protection? Comfort?
I know that any with velcro are too noisy for the woods if you ever have to pull it apart. At least I don't want one with it.
Thanks

you can take a leather hole punch or drill bit and go to town on your armgaurd to ventilate it.
It will still provide you the protection that you need, but will allow air to circulate underneath it. This is for a leather arm gaurd.
I think American Leathers makes their armgaurds with ventilation holes in them.

I prefer ventilated arm guards, velcro or not. I abhor solid leather. Velcro doesn't make THAT much noise if you take your time undoing it.
I use a vented armguard that has the elastic bands with small hooks...no velcro. I have had it forever and it is my favorite. Good protection and keeps the sleeves nice and tight. In short sleeve weather, it fits the bill nicely.
Mike's Archery Leather makes great ones and Mike is a sponsor. http://www.mikesarcheryleather.com/armguards.htm

IMHO I have used vented before and I feel they do not hold up or protect as good as a full leather one.As far as full guards being hot, they are.And I spray mine with silicone spray on the outside and 2-coats on the inside it keeps the sweat from penetrating the leather.
Thanks for the replys. I think Mikes leather guard will work perfectly. The vents look like they will answer my sweat issues.
