Title: "Centaur came down to Georgia"
Post by: Froggy on March 18, 2010, 04:00:00 PM
Got my Centaur Chimera 58" 54@28 today from Jim. I told him I wanted something a little unique. I asked him if I got him a head, could he inlay it, said he would try. I asked Woody "Knife River" if he could knap me a head along the color and size I needed for it. He came through with a fine looking Tecovas Jasper stone from South Texas. Thanks again Woody. Dark heart Cocobolo and Chechan riser. Chechan and black Micarta accents. Bamboo cores. Jim added Sheephorn grip, thumbrest overlays and tips to it. Stippled grip, Western Juniper veneers on belly and Woven Carbon back. Had him put me a small thumb ledge on it, really feels nice. Had to show pics of her, hope you like em !!!. Thanks Jim, I am proud to have it.

23feetupandhappy,I don't know what your looking for in a bow,but Jims are one of the best you can find.
The bows I have shot of Jims had plenty of manners and more.
One suggestion,Jims bows are light so a quiver gives the bow a little weight and balance, maybe that was what you needd.
Anyhow they are top of the line bows.

Ken

I think the problem is just that, I dont know what I want......Im fairly new to trad and with nothing to compare it to its hard for me to tell supper sweet over just another bow.  I should have gone to Kazoo so I could shoot all kinds of bows to let that special one FIND ME!!!

I hear ATAR has a lot of vendors. Hoping to make it there this year, never been. Try to shoot as many as you can, only you can know what fits your style.

Froggy,

I have only spoken to Jim at Centaur once. In that conversation I found him to be totally and sincerely absorbed in delivering the finest bow he can build. He is a most genuine and dedicated individual.

What you both have created is priceless to those that can appreciate it.

It is a culmination of ideas, enthusiasm, care and dedication by both, the shooter, and bowyer that can never be duplicated.

It is a superb expression of this era, the fellowship of traditional bow hunting, and the technical and artistic potential of bow crafting.

Cherish it.

Be well, my friend.
