Just tried my hand at sanding a 25 degree bevel on my Grizzly El Grande 190s last night. Was'nt to bad. Had to be careful not to hit the furrule. Once bevel is set. It is alot easier to get a sharper edge with a file. Also beveled the rear of the blades for easiy pulling out of targets.I wanted to try this on a few Grizzly's to hog hunt at the end of the month. Any other ideas on beveling?
These Grizzlys can sure hold an edge...even after shooting in a broadhead target 50 or 60 times.

John that's a great head. I shot through a doe this year with that same 190 head,total pass through. After I picked the head up off the ground it was still shavin sharp. The right file makes all the difference with sharpening. I like the grizzlies because they are cheaper than the others and I can get them just as sharp with very little effort. They also fly like field points. Nothing better than accuracy when hunting.

Not sure what bevel the old style grizzlys are. Definantly not 25 degree. I have heard the new ones have a 25 degree bevel. Pics above are the old ones that I put my own 25 degree to it
The new 200 Grizz has 25 degree bevel and are a breeze to sharpen.

I don't use the angle grinder. I clamp the whole thing to the side of my workbench so the broadhead sits on top. Then just keep the file level with the floor and it gives you a perfect edge.

Your heads and bevel look geat to me. I dont think you will be disappointed in those heads. Used them for some time now. Will like to hear how they worked on hogs I am looking on going on a hog hunt in the next year or two.
I am looking forward to buying some of the New left bevel 200gr el grandes.

Make sure you practice discipline with the Grizzly bevels while shooting targets and while hunting no different than muzzle control with a firearm. You can easily slice your hand to the bone if not careful when pulling arrows from targets. You can cut yourself or slice your bow string while managing arrows during a hunt. A 25degree edge on a Grizzly can be sharp to an insane degree and is something you must always manage with care.
As a suggestion, next time you resupply heads, switch over to the new 200s as they are head and shoulder above the old 190s. Schoonover's new dies he uses to make the 200s has all the kinks worked out of the head and they are fairly close to ideal out of the pack. They require very little work to true up and sharpen with minimal stock removal. I've used the many variation of the old head for about as long as they've been produced and the new heads are markedly superior.

John you won't be dissapointed with that head they do a number on game.The high rockwell # is a bit tougher to sharpen but man do the hold an edge :scared: I hope the new 200's have kept the same hardness of steel.Got a couple doz on order.
