When you guys are sharpening 150 grain 2-blade stingers, do you take the blade out of the ferrule or leave it in? Any tips for sharpening this head would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!
Stingers should be pretty sharp out of the package so I did a touch up with an accusharp. When I put them in the dirt I used a KME, but I left them in the ferrule.
I have found that I cannot put the proper angle on the bevel with the KME knife sharpener if I leave the blades in the ferrule, so I take them out. The ferrule on the 150 grain Stingers is bigger than on the other Stingers which makes that broadhead tougher and better, but it makes it more difficult to sharpen with the KME system, which is the one I think does the best job at home. To sharpen the Stingers (and many other broadheads) in the field, I use a Redi-Edge Sharpener, which works well without removing the blade.

Hawk,
Are you using the BH or knife sharpener? Either way, I take the bleeders out but leave the main blade in the ferrule. Use very light pressure, get the blade very sharp with the coarse stone, and finish with all "into the edge" strokes. Let me know how you make out. Thanks,
Ron
You can't use an AccuSharp on the 150 2-bladers. The ferrule is too thick and bumps the AccuSharp off.
If you're going to use the KME, I would suggest you follow Ron's suggestions!
