Title: Shooting my build along
Post by: Joshua Lee on March 16, 2010, 10:49:00 PM
Just finished building my first bow and of course the most important part is how will she shoot.  The bow is a 68" longbow and is 69#s at 28".  I've shot a bunch of arrows and it is shooting great, not accurate yet, but the arrows are flying perfect.  Problem is, I haven't added anything to the arrow shelf I want to add some leather or fur .  I would imagine this will change the arrow trajectory and possibly the nock point.  Any suggestions as to how this will impact the arrow flight.  I can take some guesses but I'm a newbie to traditional archery. The other option I was thinking of was to sand the shelf down to compensate for the leather or fur, but that is kinda permenant and I though I should talk to the experts first.
Thanks
Josh

Add the material you want and see what happens. You can always remove it. I don't think the change will be drastic.
