Title: head net
Post by: woodsman 365 on March 16, 2010, 06:38:00 PM
Is there a head net that is easily removed? I'm worried the netting will interfear with my string.

I could never get used to one while shooting.....I have one from turkey hunting that I sometimes use when it's warm.  I can pull it down around neck when needed (not when hunting turkeys of course).  I have tried spandoflage with mixed feelings and results.  If you are bear hunting with the black flies/skeeters, get a full net and use it.  In cold weather, I have a toboggan with a face mask I wear.  When its time for a shot, I pull it downunder my chin to clear my anchor point.  I sonetimes also use a booney hat with a ghilli piece attched.  I don't use face paint.  Never liked the feeling.  I agree with woodchucker, practice with whatever you use.

I use a Spandoflauge mask and it does not interfere with the string at all. I feel naked shooting without it.Bass Pro stocks them and they are cheap.  Ben

I second the Spandoflauge, keeps glasses from moving and no problem with it getting hooked into string.I can cut just the amount of hole I want!!

I go for the mesh head net.  During turkey season and early deer season, the mosquitoes will find any exposed skin.  Thermocells don't work when you go running through the woods to get set up.  And again, what ever you chose, practice in it before hunting.  Bill

I am a spandoflauge guy too but I make sure I have like 5 of then and don't hesitate to either pitch one or wash it frequently...when you are calling turkies alot you get a little spit/dribble on the mask. After about a week it has it's own dna and begins to have it's own bo  :)
