How do you all reinforce your stumpers?
I have some GT 35/55 that I intend to use for stumping once all this darn snow disappears.
But I have already ruined 3 earlier GTs, splitting them up front into logs, and was wondering what to use for reinforcement?
I have tried purchasing collars from 3Rivers but they are either to big or to small.. (Or I did wrong^^)
I know people use alu's for this, but what size?
Or if you have a different approach, feel free to share  :)
Stats for my GTs are :
Cut 28", 35/55, 125gn judo, 100gn insert, .500 spine, ID/OD = .297"/.246"

Somewhere around here is a chart that tells what sizes  aluminums fit over top of what carbons.
Theres also a tutorial around here someplace that shows how to go about footing carbons.
I cut 2 inch pieces of 2117s and epoxied them over the ends of my vapor 400s. A smaller 1/4" piece epoxied on the nock end and they are dang near indestructible.
I shot a (partial) round on the ironman course at the TBoF gathering a couple of weeks ago. Picked the wrong spot on a steel plate and whacked it good with a 55-56# bow. Bent the field point at a 45 degree angle and popped the nock out to never be seen again. But the arrow itself was fine!

Shoot carbon express and you wont need to reinforce them they are indestructable I shoot both and I have not broke a CX yet stumping or 3d shooting. Widow

I'll say the same for Bemans. I pound the heck out my wood grains and they don't break.

I foot mine internally using a piece of wood dowel I make mine about an inch and a half but know some others that use a longer piece. I rough up the inside of the shaft with sandpaper or a rifle cleaning bore brush, then clean it up with acetone. dampen the dowel and insert with water then glue it all in with Gorilla glue. This will make a tough arrow, I have used external footings in the past but after talking to some people and tried this method i like it better. All you need to do is keep the insert from becoming a wedge and splitting the shaft, this will be accomplish by using this method.

i tried the alum. arrow footings on my beman mfx arrows 1" alum. i shot a metal bunny target and missed the kill zone "hole" and smacked the target  hard enough to break the end of a judo point off the nock came out and the arrow was fine!now im a true believer.

I used this footing setup with 800+ gr. arrow and 71 lbs., minus the Grizz, when I killed a 3/4 steel plate.  Field point broke but arrow was fine and dandy.
