I've got some arrows on the way and I want to use some arrow wraps. Never used them before. Have heard good things about Onestringer arrow wraps and will be ordering from them. I will be fletching carbon arrows. Should I clean arrows before wrapping? Acetone OK? Can I use the clear wrap by itself? I use superglue to fletch with, is this OK? How's the best way to remove wraps?.......Thanks
I use the wraps on my carbons and dont clean before attaching as they are pretty sticky. I don't remember what brand of wrap I used though.
As for getting them off later...I use a large plastic cup from a fast food place and place the arrows in. Make sure the wraps will be completely submerged when the cup is full of hot water. For the hot water I use an electric tea kettle and when it clickes off, indicating the water is hot, I pour it into the cup and let the shafts site for a minute before starting to peel off the old wrap. If I can't get it all off in one go, I'll stick it back into the water and grab the next one and keep doing this untill I have all the old wraps off. If the water cools off, just reheat some in the kettle and you're back in business.

I always wipe my arrows down before putting on wraps.I just use some denatured alcohol,acetone is too harsh.I use Platinum Fletch tite for all my fletching.What Mack_S said for removing them,some guys use a hair dryer also to remove them.
Never tried glue on wraps, just fletch tape. The fletch tape stays on great but comes off easily with a bit of finger nail persuasion without damaging the wraps.

I will say that I too would always use Acetone of something along those lines to wipe down the arrows prior to applying the wraps. Easy to do and that way you don't take any chances with adhesion.
Super Glue will certainly work but I would say that will colored wraps if you use too much SG and it "oozes" out from around the base it can make the color run somewhat. Can make for a not so clean appearance....thats why I too use Fletch Tape.

I contacted Mindy late last week about a design I was thinking about, I received the finished wraps Monday. They do a lot of different products and have amazingly quick turn times.
If you have an idea and can give them a general overview of what you're looking for Mindy will come up with something I guarantee it. Or if you see something on their website and what it tweaked a touch it's not a problem.
I clean my carbons with Isopropyl Alcohol...I think 92%.

I will have to try the hot water thing. Up to this point I use a fletching stripper and wipe the old glue off with goo-gone. As far as cleaning the shaft before putting the wrap on, I just wipe the shaft down with brake-clean.
I use a degreaser/ acetone and let it dry overnight before putting the wraps on. One time I didnt wait long enough and I wrapped and started to fletch and when I pulled the clamp off I lifted the wrap as well.
I have used Onestringer's wraps on wood with great success!

I don't clean mine...but it sure wouldn't hurt to do so.
I usually use Fletch-Tite Platinum, if in a hurry though I've used super glue as well
I have used a scotch brite pad (the green one) and clean lightly where the wrap will cover the shaft, wipe it off with a rag, and you are ready to go. I have had no problems doing it this way.
I love the onestringer wraps!!!! I've used on wood and carbon with great success they do the custom wraps for my company. I use flech tite mostly the only glue I did have problems wiht was duco but they were not onestringer wraps
I clean my shafts with lacquer thinner first, then wrap the arrow, I use goat tuff to glue my Fletch on .
As for removal I use a old knife, scape them and clean with lacquer thinner, the wraps scape off really easy. (Onestringer) :thumbsup:
I use their wraps on all my arrows...sometimes I get a design, sometimes I crest on their solid color wraps. I do clean the shaft with alchohol...but I don't think you'd have to. I use AAE Fastset Gel and fletch tape both with good success.

Just finished fletching Heritage 150s and Gold Tip Trads using Onestringer Flo colored solid wraps, I also wipe the the shaft with Acetone or something similar and use Fletch Tite glue never had a problem! As to removal scrapping works okay but the hair drier acrually workd the best wraps peel right off with very little residue left over! Onestringer is a great company prices are great and they ship fast!

Where do you get "Goo Gone Extreme"...Walmart?
The Goo gone extreme that I have is in a spray can, it came from Walmart. Warning! Do not spray this stuff inside your house. Nasty chemical smell, couldn't be good to breath. Don't ask me how I know.
Well I just followed the info on 3 rivers and on the Alaska bowhunting site good videos - don't clean mine.

Yep walmart, I have only used the stuff in a metal can. Goo Gone Extreme will take just about anything off.

for stripping fletching, it is important to not strip with razor, it damages finish om carbons over time. get a heat gun or hair dryer and heat them up and they pul right off. also, it is a lot cleaner.
onestringer is a 5 star operation, and the people are great!
