Good reading. Thanks for sharing!
Whats Dean's site address? I have Not seen Dean for years. We all had great times at OSTA shoots way back !!! He's another great "OHIO ARTIST" Hope to see and talk again soon Dean ...Jeff
I had to smile. It's been a long time since the BBO pix have been up. That little blonde girl holding my first BBO is now 13 years old and she's 5', 9-1/2" tall!
I remember when I first met Dean at Cloverdale. I was walking through the big tent looking at the archery stuff when I came across his table. He was selling his book "hunting the osage bow" I picked it up and was looking at it,skimming the pages, when Dean asked if I wanted him to sign it? Now in my defense I had never met him and didn't look at the cover of the book, but I asked him "why would I want you to sign it, you're a vendor??" The look on his face was priceless and I've never seen that color red before or since lol
I met Dean at Cloverdale too, after corresponding with him for a while. He's my favorite author in the archery field, and he was slated to have an article in the last issue of Longbows & Recurves magazine, which was to be my first issue as editor, but it never went to press because the magazine closed its doors. He is a fine gentleman, and I'm very pleased to own one of his bows. Last year he most graciously added my Superceder shafts to his web site to help me move them. His blog is always fascinating, covering much more than archery. He's a keeper of the traditional ways, and men like him are truly rare. Proud to call him friend.
I agree 100% Don. It was just funny when I first met him but I didn't know him or anything about him lol after I got to know him a little bit he's a good guy. He's one of those type guys that would give ya the shirt off his back if'n you needed it. A rare person indeed
Jeff,
It is the one in the thread title: http://www.bowyersedge.com
Joe, if you got Dean to blush... "ya done good!"
The Man never ceases to Entertain, and Teach at the Same Time!! He is One of My Heroes!! :notworthy: :notworthy: "MY Hero" List is Short, but Distinguished!!! :archer:
There are some really fine examples of bows from others on his site. Wish mine were some of them but they ain't. Humbling to look at the first efforts, but learning is what it's all about and we were (are) all lucky to have Dean teaching his craft. And, if you want to learn about chicken farming, well then I bet he'd help you get into that as well. His observations about food, chickens, dogs, meeting thrills on blueberry hill, etc. are priceless!
Dean is like the "Mark Twain Of Archery"!! He has Many Insights, but Never Compromises His Way of Bowyery. (sp)
definatly good stuff....John Scifres...you're next ;) !!!! To much good stuff to loose!!1
Oh, I forgot to mention that I first met him at GLLI back in '98 I believe. I fed him that night. Prolly why we became friends. ;)
