My vote goes to Dwyer original but am waiting on a Northern Mist Baraga. Any others?I have heard Fox is nice? After MANY bows I prefer as much R/D you can get in a bow but maintain the D shape. Thanks for your thoughts and input. BILL
Lonetree.... the best mild r/d narrow limb longbow there was. Sadly the bowyer is no longer with us.
Leon Stewart Reflex-Deflex bow. Classic looks with performance.
I'm with you on the Dwyer very nice bows.
mohawk! (http://www.mohawkbows.com)
Wes Wallace and a Mohawk!
Mohawk for sure!
Northern Mist Baraga, has been the best I have shot so far. Flint
Mohawk for a mild R&D period the end.
D
Ive not shot a whole lot of "D" type (when strung), but sure like the Toelke Super D.
For me it is my Green Mountain Classic, too bad he doesn't make them anymore.
If I could have any of them, it would be a Robertson or a Northern Mist Superior(a longer Baraga).
Eric
Big River
ChuckC
Mohawk
Solstice is really good, and Centaur. And Fox.
my vote goes to the Fox, they are very smooth drawing and dead in the hand (as most good R/D bows are).
DJ
Throw my hat in for the Phoenix by Ron Pittsley.
Northern Mist Baraga
Wes Wallace Royal, Have a 66" 60#@29", very smooth drawing.
In the mild deflex/reflex category I'll vote for the Robertson and Great Northern Critter Gitter. Both of these have been around for 25 plus years for a reason.
Mohawk for me!!!
BOB
Chek-Mate Crusader--the same Crusader has been my favorite for the last 15 years or so. They have been going strong for 40+ years, with the bowyer of almost 25 years recently taking over the business after the owners and founders decided to (finally) retire late last year. He's made well over 12,000 bows and is still going strong (he's only 41 years old--started at CM when he was 17).
Others great longbow bowyers I know of are Ric Anderson, Roy Hall, Mike Treadaway, and Ron Fox. I've never heard anything but positive remarks about them, their work, and their customer service.
None of these guys rely on gimmicks to stay in business, and some of them don't advertise at all. Word of mouth keeps them backed up on orders, and that's advertsing that money just can't buy.
Chad
Seven Lakes and Mohawk.
Joshua
Elburg Cherokee/Jaguar Magnum.
Yellowstone Renegade flatbow.
Stay healthy.
God bless,
José
have to go with my Crow Creek Dalton.
Griffin by John McCullough. Great looking and great shooters!
who makes a 54" 3 piece?
Robertson for me, as forgiving as a D bow but the advantages as the R/Ds are still there, I would like them even more if my new one would get here.
Liberty and Dwyer
Treadway Longbow
Frederick - those of you who have one know what I'm talking about
Great Northern Critter Gitter!!!

Centaur isn't mild R/D..? I thought Jim only made pronounced R/Ds.. They sure look good though :)
Mild r/d-Abbott.
Allegheny Mtn bows have whats called double D limbs I have 2 of them and really like both.
they're all good and they're all bad! Hope that answers your question.
Still love my Big River! I have shot Northern Mist and really like it also!
Love my Leon Stewart. Went through many different bows until I found the feel of a Stewart was for me.
JD Berry. Quiet, fast, smooth and forgiving.
Wess Wallace JD Berry Great Plains Mohawk
Seven Lakes by far, for a mild R/D they are very quick and very quiet!! Shawn
Saluki is building the Grandeur model longbows again. Always herd great things about them.
"Mild r/d-Abbott."

Agree. One of the best values out there (design, shootability, looks, price) for a mild R/D D-style longbow.
I own 2 Mohawks and a third in the making. :saywhat: So Mohawk it is!
not so mild... My Griffin 2 piece
mild....Great Plains... wish I still had it
Gene :wavey:
Mild R/D the Mohawk is the best Ive shot and Ive tried out a few, if there is a finer man than Vince out there building bows I would like to know about it . He sure is a great man to do business with .
Wes Wallace, Liberty Chief, Green Mtn Classic.
All of the bows listed are great choices. My own favorite in this category is the Border Griffon GL.
Robertson, but would like to shoot a Mohawk to see if as good as most say.
LoneWolf Autumn Storm all Osage
The bow you see me shooting in my avatar pic is a hummingbird and every single person thats shot her has like it.It was my pic after trying many many bows at Denton. We're all a little differnt we each must decide for ourselves which is best in our hands, their all pretty good and the "one" LOL is out there
Caribow and Mohawk. Ken
Alot of these are not really mild reflex/deflex bows IMO.
I like Mohawks.Fredericks,GN Critter Gitters,Liberty Contender,Black Swan Carbon Classic,Dwyer.
J.D Berry and Robertson have been around for a long time and are 2 of the originals in this style.
I am sure thier are many other nice ones.
What Keefer said.
After i read about the winking method for fixing a flinch from a thread, a technique I heard about 40 years ago from a PAA pro, which worked wonders for me, thanks to who ever posted it. I went out and shot my right hand Pearce Point Purist, shot a few groups and then went back in the house to replace some broken nocks. I was thinking how could any bow be better than this. Today I went out with 6 fiberglass arrows to try out of my new lefty Robertson longbow. After a few groups, I went in to repair four of the 6 arrows. Tough question. 18 yards is hard on my arrow supply with these. You always wonder, "how much better is the next best bow?" Somewhere budget with restraints I will have to say good enough is good enough.
JD Berry. And Green Mountain.
Steve Abbott longbow
Fredrick,if you can find one.Heavily trapped w/ thick core makes this bow quick and stable.
Green Mountain and a Northern Mist Superior, Best I have shot for smoothness, quiet and no hand shock! Great workmanship also!! Both bowyers are great to work with also! To bad Green Mt. are no longer made.
More European champs shoot Border longbows than any other single make. I know, I know, it's the shooter, not the bow but I just HAD to throw that in there and yes, there are American bows in these tourneys! :D
Hands down J.D. Berry. just something about em. i think there magic
Stewart R/D Great looks,great shooter!!
Big River
leon stewart-just plain great shooters and real good lookers-
define "nice"
Mohawk.
Apex Predator "Sapelo"
Alot of great Bows and Bowyers listed here, for me the Marriah Chinook by Ric Anderson is my favorite.
Not easy to come by but a real shooter!
Pretty easy on the eyes as well Ric is a true Craftsman.
JD Berry, they just feel right and pretty to boot.
Ive only shot a few longbows, and only owned 2 so far. Guess I got lucky my second purchase was a Northern Mist Baraga 55#, 62" model. Its hands down better feeling/shooting then anything else Ive tried!
Horne Combohunter. D-shaped, mild R/D, great shooter.
the next one I shoot......
I picked up a 66" two piece Wallace Royal about a month ago. It instantly made me a better shooter. Several variables probably come into play, but this one works for me.
Mariah Chinook & Hayak Special
Larry
My Hollenbeck right now, but the next time I have a custom made... it will probably be a Norhtern Mist Baraga!
Beachbowhunter you hit it on the head Horne's Combo hunter!
You guys are killing me. We don't have any trad shops in our area so the only ones I've got to shoot are the ones I buy.
Where is the best place to visit and have a chance to shoot some of these fine bows?
I'm not moving from the sticks but may take a road trip.
Book a hotel for a night and drive to Denver. Arrrive at opening time at Rocky Mtn Specialty Gear. Go crazy. Bring your checkbook...
I live in the sticks! Serious. I no longer have a check book. PayPal when I have money on account and postal money orders for the remainder.Cash in my pocket at all times.
Little brother James, can't get him into trad but he's a flyfishing fool, lives in Denver.
a place to stay is not a problem.
Send me a date and time. I may just show.
It's time for me to go visit my brother and sister LeAnne in Denver.
I'm just a little guy,but if you're looking for Big and Tall just go down and visit Kaufmans Big & Tall? I question the spelling on this one, but ask for Jim.
