Title: They are strutting in Texas
Post by: Nakohe on March 10, 2010, 08:38:00 PM
This evening we were skidding the rig and looked over and not twenty yards off the location in a field of green grass there was a big tom and two hens. He had a 10" beard and was strutting for the ladies big time. We all stood on the edge of the location watching and he was not twenty yards away and paid us no mind. I could not believe it. I could of nailed him with my bow easy. Went to get a camera, but they had moved  off time I got back from the trailer. Should have used my phone, but was afraid the pics would not turn out very good.

Early to mid-March will always find the Toms strutting in Texas if the weather cooperates. That why they wait until April to open the season. Want it to be at least a little challenging. Have fun and good luck.   :archer:

Terry,

LOL, "Breaking News" A love sick turkey attacked and almost gave  a rig crew heart attacks today. Witness said that the rig companyman was running away with the turk hot on his heels with love in his eyes just a gobblin and peckin away.

He is working around Cleaburn. Bubba, Ya need to find a place to hunt them, ya have my Double Bull that I left with you.

You guys are killing me. ROTFLMAO Terry I am actually just east of Spinks airport off Alsbury Blvd in Burleson. We are not a mile off the Interstate. Just behind a golf course. Saw  a bunch of about 10 today and three strutters on the way out of the location to go to town.

Burleson? That close! Send them on into downtown where I live. Just tell them to follow 35>20W>67N all the way in.

Donald....just to be safe you better have your bow ready....sounds like the job is going well....getting work done and seeing turkeys...if you start seeing hogs and deer at 20 yds...I am heading that way....
