Does any one use both of these to make a string.I just made one with 10 strands of D97 and 4 strands of B50.Hoping it will quieten my recurve down a little more.
I only mix it in the loop ends,I use B50 for padding loop ends.I never use it in the bundles when twisting up a string,it would be just dead weight because the stronger D97 will be carrying the load.Been padding my loop ends with B50 for a few years.On my 8 strand D97 I'll add 4 strands B50 per bundle,making a total of 16 strands in the loop ends.It fills the string grooves better which I feel helps to quieten a string.I have been using 8 strands D97 on my bows 58# and under,I feel it is quieter then a 12 strand D97.

Bows built for FF type strings,all my bows a FF rated except for an old Ben Pearson.I use dacron only on that bow.All my bows are longbows except the BP,I'm just not into dacron bows.They just feel springy and not solid,but B50 works great for padding loop ends.Rob even used B50 to pad an endless loop D97,works great.You don't really need to pad loops on a FF type bow.I pad my loops to make the loop ends a larger diameter to fill the string grooves better.To spread the load and I feel it helps make a quieter string.
