Title: Favorite shooting position in relation to hunting set up
Post by: lpcjon2 on March 08, 2010, 10:17:00 PM
What is your favorite shooting position standing, kneeling or sitting(stool or other)and how does it relate to your hunting set up.

I shoot from tree stands and do most of my practice from a stand in my backyard.

All the deer except 1 I've taken from the ground have been sitting on my huntin' chair. Every deer I've taken from a tree stand has been in the sitting position. Don't really have a preference, but I always seem to be sitting down when the deer show up. At least I haven't been asleep LOL

I hunt from the ground from a small, cheap, 360 stool. Its perfect for rotating to a knee and shooting, which is how I shoot from it.

Standing is best for me, however, I like to practice sitting and kneeling.
I like to hunt ground blinds, so for a standing blind it just needs to be tall and skinny instead of short and fat.  :bigsmyl:

I shoot off both knees any time I have an option.

Crouching or kneeling on one knee. I try to stay as low as the shot will allow. I really don't like standing to shoot at all.

I can't remember (accept for tree standing) being able to stand straight up and shoot anything, but small game.

I am usually pretty low to the ground stalking.
