Four thirty comes very early but hey it's opening day. Temperature in the trailer is a balmy 39 degrees and outside it's a brisk 33. Coffees on and the 50 gallon barrel is slowly percolating heat out into the screened in building. Every one else must be sleeping in till 5. Perhaps they may post some thing later
Sure glad I did my set up yesterday. Recurve, chair decoys all just sitting there waiting for my arrival all I need is my backpack and large thermos of coffee. Will be an easy drive and then walk into the edge of the cypress.
Here is the layout.

Like Biggie says not allowed to. However this is the same location.
Scratch, scratch yelp yelp and I can see a group of hens coming in. Big deal hens guess I'll grab the camera not the bow.
In hind site was a perhaps a mistake. I will get the video up a little later and you all can let me know what you would have done.

I got carried away Biggie .... good luck to you all, our turkey season is five weeks away :jumper: :jumper:
No worries Ken, that's why I can only post two of my turkey kills on here 8-)
Here are some videos of the hens coming in and passing the blind. Watch the last one carefully. Is it a bearded hen or do I need to get my glasses checked?

In the last video the one walking left at the end has a beard ... go get'r Les
:campfire: :archer:
Unfortunately she exited stage right and went behind the clump. Camera instead of bow and I was not absolutely sure the beard was 6" or longer. As Biggie has told me If I would leave the camera behind I would kill more stuff and eat better.
Here is a still I pulled from the video..

Is there a length requirement on the beard ? You need a bow cam so you can take pictures and hunt at the same time. :bigsmyl:
We have a 6" or better rule on the lease
Getting me excited! thanks. :campfire: :coffee:
I love the swamp! Cool pics
That spanish moss just makes that place look surreal! What a cool place to hunt - go get 'em!
We have alot of bearded hens in, appropriately named, Osceola County, just an hour or 2 north of you guys. Some have pretty nice beards, too. A guest of mine shot one last season with a 9 inch rope of a beard.
I saw a few "bearded hens" the last time I was up in Gainesville.... .
Whats happining? Inquiring minds want to know?? :readit: :D

I believe it happened Jake....
Better explained as nothing happened. You saw what I saw for the entire day. At least I saw some. Off tomorrow after some HOG-snapper off the coast of Honduras. Won't get back to the Turkeys till the 23.
Anybody ever use a string tracker with out attaching to the bow? I'm not putting a hole in mine.
Thanks
I kinda thought that, but was hoping there was more to the story..... Hope the 23rd brings more excitement!
