Title: Bamboo arrow shafts ???
Post by: getstonedprimitivebowhunt on March 05, 2010, 08:07:00 AM
I was walking though Lowe's garden center and seem bamboo sticks. They looked prefect for arrow shafts. Same size as river cane that I have used. So I grabbed 6.(99 cents each).
I have not made them yet but just wonder if You have. Thanks ...Jeff

My first attepmt at cane arrows was 3 or 4 years ago when I purchased some stakes from the garden center ar Home Depot.
Mine were too large of diameter. I TRIED to straighten and made up a dozen for target practice.
They are now used as curtain rods in my cabin with feathers and points inract.

Lots of folks have made good cane arrows using garden stakes from the garden center stores. They are probably Tonkin cane. I haven't used them is a while because I cut local native cane for arrows.
Look in the "how to" section here for info on arrows from raw cane. Mickey(Ferret) used to have info on his site but I believe that was lost to cyber space but someone may have saved that info. I know there are good cane arrow building information on PA if you want to look there.
