I say "we".....because I owe almost everything to the many of you who endured my endless questions. I've never been shy about asking, and you guys were never shy about stepping up and offering much needed (and appreciated) advice along the way.
Having come from a compound background, the inner call to "up my game" needed a push. I got that in a VERY respectful way, when I came here inquiring (citing my apprehensions) about making the switch to full-time "trad".
If you're in the same boat I was in....the best advice I could give anyone is to locate someone near you that is well-versed in the ins and outs of traditional archery. I got lucky. pebowbender (Page) was close....and I went to the well, often (still do!). A WONDERFUL friendship was borne....and I feel lucky.
Here's the results of my 1st trad. season. Thanks, again, to all who helped along the way. "We" had a great one!

Congratulationa Jeff! It doesn't look like giving up the compound kept you from filling the freezer. Great shooting! Thanks for posting.

How cool is this? Way!!!!
Thanks GMMAT for sharing with us.
I can't think of a more fitting way of giving back or saying thanks than posting what you did.
Good job all the way around!!
God bless, Mudd
Awesome stuff Jeff, you had a great year no doubt.
T.J.
Good on ya...I went an got a compound this year becuase I got tired of getting fustrated missing deer (often at 10 - 12 yards). I get so flippin jittery and excited I am like a kid on Christmas when a deer walks out. Good on you for sticking with it. I really wanted to fill the freezer so stepped back into compounds while I learn to calm myself and make a good shot.
Sometimes I feel like I am the only one who gets like this in a stand but I will start the year again with traditional tackle!!
Great job...what a good year for you!! Stay blessed!!
Good Job!!! :clapper:
QuoteNice going but whats the belt on your bow for safty harness for your bow? Or is that from the compound days?
That's a bow sling....and I use it.
I'm a "stander" when I deer hunt (climbing stands....and I stand the great majority of the time). Most times, I'll have my bow hanging on a bow hook. But, sometimes I hold it. The sling makes it easier to do the latter, for extended periods.
It's made by a danged fine archer/hunter named John Dill (anneewakee archery). I'll always have one on a bow I'm hunting with.
Bobco....back at you, Bro....and thanks for all of your help along the way.

Congrats you made some great shots, on some nice fine animals. Whats the camo your wearing on your profile pic? It looks like it would work well in some areas I hunt.

It`s all about the memories...and it`s obvious you made some.
True hunters live the whole experience...dedication and pride.
