Title: In Honor Of Noah Moore
Post by: Shell on July 14, 2006, 01:47:00 PM
This has been a long time coming and I am deeply apologetic for not posting until now.

This past Christmas, Rick Moore's (Crittergitter)son Noah and his family have generously donated a beautiful 48" Dave Beeler longbow 20#@24" with gorgeous prairie rattler skins.

We were informed that we won the bow and had planned on giving it to our niece for Christmas.
She's 8 years old and shows the most enthusiasm for archery in our family and is also very good hearted with others.
She shoots it very well and her first response was a HUGE smile and the skins were what she liked best about it!

She will use it until she outgrows it and will in turn donate it to someone else on Tradgang who will like to have this beautiful bow for their son/daughter, grandson/granddaughter, niece/nephew to enjoy as Noah did.

Rick, you have said exactly what we feel about the Trad family and could not say it better...there are too many to list on here and would like to Thank each and every person who enjoys the same ideals.

I have posted below the pic's that I have retrieved of Noah in a recent post with a better shot of the bow, and then Sarah with it. We will get better and clearer ones in the near future and her new raccoon back quiver that was her belated birthday gift from us (which the raccoon was given to us by Mac "Walkingstick", in whom I am also greatly in debted to & did not forget about                  :)                 , Coming in a future post).

Because of the kindness Noah has shown us, we would like to donate in his name, 6 custom youth quivers done in time for Christmas this year. Any style (back, plains/side or hip) ,color, size and specific hide & decoration (including carved paw prints of favorite animal of a bear, wolf, deer or turkey track) to apply to the quiver and fur trim of choice. Three will be for a boy and the other 3 for a girl. Shipping is included.

I will be taking names until October 1 2006 from anyone who would like to enter for a son/daughter, grandson/granddaughter, niece/nephew, even someone that may not be related who you would like to get involved in the sport (to encourage) all are invited to participate!
We will add the boys names in one bowl and the girls in another bowl and then will have Sarah pull 3 names from each and will announce the winners on 10/2/06.

Again Thank you Rick, Candy & Noah for your kindness & patience with us getting these posted. You are truly what this site is all about!          Sincerely, Shell&Frank

New note: We had a special Tradganger ask me to make another quiver to donate to the previous 4 and now am going to offer 6 ( one for each, boy and girl). They wanted to stay annonymous and will honor that but will say he is one tough cookie                                (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v83/fishrofmen1/77942e93.jpg)

Shell & Frank,
That is very kind of you to make quivers for so many kids, not to mention the fact that you do it in Noahs honor. I know as soon as he see's this he'll be extremely happy.

Its an awesome feeling to know that good deeds continue from a single selfless act of an 8yr old boy. And I'm sure Sarah will feel the same when she passes it on as well.

By the way Sarah is a beautiful little girl who has at least two very special people she can look up to in her life. Its not an easy world for little ones these days but with the right people staying involved the sky is the limit.

The kids who get these quivers will not believe how very nice and well made they are.

We hope she gets plenty of good use and smiles from the bow. Keep us posted on her progress cause ya know we all love to see pics of the little ones with their bows.

Rick, Candy & Noah

I was just talking to the fellas at our club shoot this weekend how Trad folks are a different breed. I have seen so many acts of kindness, compassion, and giving on this website that I can not put it into words. I too am glad to be a part of this family, and I am glad to see that in a world of bad news, that there are still this many people with good hearts and souls who truly care about one another. My daughter who is 11 is getting more involved in the Trad side of this sport every day, and I would be very thankful if you would add her name to the list for the girls quiver. Her name is Lauren Gifford. She has already learned the value of a bent stick and all that goes with it at a very early age! And again for everyone here and all this group does for people, thank you!

Please add my two sons to the drawing, Noah (how fitting that'd be!) age 4 and Benjamin Bova age 8.

Thank you for doing this.  You will be blessed just as you are blessing others.

There are so many youth out there that are impressionable and many who try and take advantage of them in a destructive way...I think the pristine sport of archery is so beneficial to these youth not just because of it's fun of the sport or the value of spending the time with them, but the majority of it's people who have such an ethic of support and care with others that can't help but be passed onto these next generations. So many on here share this mindset and I'm just happy to be a part of this family.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words...it's because of Noah that inspired me though, so credit is due him      :)

Ok Bill, you made me tear up with that statement and your avatar....thanks! Megan is graduating next year and we just can't believe it ourselves.

And Jerry, you are just saying that!     :o
You two don't have to twist my arms to come out to visit! But that little buckaroo son of yours is indeed, adorable, too cute for words!
Also Frank says he'll fly if your wife "guides the hunt"....success! He'll even bring you one of his antenna arrows!

Hey Paul, it was nice to see you at the shoot last week....will be talking soon!

Terry....greedy? I think not!  :wavey:

Killy, Maybe I can help with your wish -- my kids are available on a short-term basis for nominal fees.  ;)   By the way, Joe said you were cool, funny, and nice and he wished you were his aunt.  I don't think he can bestow any higher praise.

Shell, what you're doing is simply wonderful.  I'm NOT going to put my kids' names in the hat because people have been so generous to them already.  My 7 year old, Joe (AKA "Guido") has been gifted three quivers already, plus more arrows than he can shoot in an afternoon -- and that's a BUNCH!  Your wonderful gifts should go where they're needed more!  Thanks again for your kindness and generosity.  I hope the good karma fairy repays you a thousand-fold!   :notworthy:

Both your and Frank's generousity is completely overwhelming. Thank you so much for this wonderful gesture to the trad. community. I woul like to enter my grandson in the drawing. He is 5 years old, but already shoots an old 23# York longbow that I found for him on ebay. He lives about 65 miles from me, but all he wants to do on weekends is get my daughter to bring him to visit so he can shoot his bow. I get to see him often because of that old bow! His name is Ryan Ortwein (I call him RhinO).
Thanks Shell, and I hope you are feeling much better.

Ok everyone...Thank you for bearing with me...the storm took down a lot of trees last night near the house and the power was on and off throughout...

but we do have names!

Just to let everyone know, due to such a large volume of entries, I wanted to add 6 more to the list for a total of 12 quivers (6 girls and 6 boys).
The tradganger who donated for the other 2 quivers has given the ability to do these extra ones as well, along with the items I am using from those who have sent us antler and other items to use on them, so thank you ALL for your part!

The names are (and in no particular order):

(Girls)

Rachel I. (Talondale)
Holly Andrews (BigRonHuntalot)
Keisha S. (FirstArrow)
Lani (702PLMO)
Jessica Martin (OzarkCherryBow1)
Skylar (WMCclendon)

(Boys)

Aaron (Thp)
Harrison (TMCCALL)
Evan (Jack Guard)
Wally (PlilipMorris)
Isaiah (TripleB)
Gavin (Earl Baugher)

Please contact me through a PM for details of your quivers etc...Thanks again for this opportunity     :)

Shell and Gang, it has taken me several hours to write this response.  i am overwhelmed and at a loss for words.  i have been lurking on this website for months now and have seen an incredible amount of generosity.  i actually decided to sign my boys up at the last minute because my work schedule has not allowed me to sit down and make them quivers.  not that they would have been anywhere near Shell's quality and beauty.  when i read the e-mail and after i calmed down i sat on the computer with Evan and he looked at the pictures, he kept coming back to Noah's pisture, saying he wanted to look just like him, he even ran to his bedroom and started pullin out his camo shirts and hats to copy Noah.  I am currently posted in the UK and am not able to hunt so shooting in the back yard helps the boys and i stay in tune and enjoy the sport.  thru this deed of generosity you all have added a great deal to our lives.
    Thank you, Jack

Please forgive me getting back to everyone...I have had a chance to respond to several people on their quivers but this week I've experienced several difficult circumstances with my 2 dogs...
My 2 year old boxer Stella fainted (believe heart related) for the second time in 6 months and now due to what we believe is cancer going into Honeybear's brain, she has severe head tilting and disoriented, she can't stand up without falling all over so I will be taking her in today so she will not suffer any longer. My daddy will be happy to see her anyhow, he loved that dog.

I know they're just dogs but are my life and true blue companions.
Like my wonderful friend Terry Riley comforted me with, "The good Lord knew what people really needed when He created dogs for us to enjoy".
Thank you so much Terry for your kind words and everyone else for your patience with me.

Just letting everyone know that I will be shipping out the quivers next weekend for 10 of the 12 youth who are getting them...the other 2 will be the following week due to a specific item I am waiting on.

Due to my cut I got on my hand and other personal issues I am now sending them out, I again apologize for not having them done as hoped as there were several things that happened within this time frame that made it impossible to have them all finished.

I don't ever want a child to have to wait for something and have already explained to the recipients....just wanted to let everyone else know who was involved with this and appreciate the waiting as well from items I am finishing up on.

Thank you all for your patience with me.  :)
