Title: Help ,Limb Twist???
Post by: Hill Hunter on March 04, 2010, 03:54:00 PM
I restrung one of the new recurves I bought this year after twisting the string to raise brace. after shooting a couple of times I noticed that the string was tracking down the left side of the string groove, It had not done that before. I put it back and inspected it to be sure the string was in the grooves good shot again, same thing. I store the bow in a bow rack with the limbs laying flat close to the riser. Is the limb on my new bow twisting?

It does sound like your limb is twisted somewhat.  Try stringing it up and then just twisting the limb back in the opposite direction.  I use a padded vise to hold the bow while I do this.  Leave it strung up and do this when you walk by a couple times a day and see if it doesn't come out.  Many of them do.

Beyond that, it make take some gentle heating before the limb responds, but be very careful with heat that you don't get it too hot and affect the glue.

I tryed the heat on a old recurve I bought used.I used a blow dryer on medium heat.Like Whip said,Don`t get it too hot.I heated the area and then twisted the limb past center and hold till it cools. It took me 3 trys till I got it.Never had a problem with it afterwards. The string stayed in the grooves.
