I recently purchased a Kwik Styk from a fellow TG'r (froggy) and the USPS delivery confirmation tracking (well worth the $.70) said it arrived in my town this morning, so I am headed home for lunch to check it out!!
Pics to come tonight!!! This is the first one I have owned, 58" 50@28. Heard alot of good things about them, so very anxious to try it out! :readit:
Thanks Lanier!

Lanier is a great guy to deal with.
I just recieved a JK Traditiona Kanati from him the other week. Smooth to deal with.
Wow, the bow I have been looking for and now you have it! Good Luck & I am can't wait to hear from you and what you think. If I were you, I would not even shoot the bow, just sell it to me. Good Luck
Congrats!! They seem to be one amazing design. I hope to add one to my collection one day.
Post pics. SOON!

zirnsak - I will put you on the list IF :D that happens...
Pics coming!
This bow really is a pleasure to shoot. The only thing I would change is perhaps get one that is shorter, other than that...Everything they are cracked up to be!
Anyone have advice on brace height, perhaps what you are using?
Thanks
Jake

I shoot my 2 56"ers at 7 3/4-8"...but that might be a little higher than most...I'd start at 7 1/4"
Good Luck with it!
I'll also add that I use 10 strand TS-1 on my 58#'er, and and 12 strands on my 63#...SWEET!!
Jake,
That bow likes 7 1/2" to 7 5/8" tops bud. Try a 8 or 10 strand Multicam, pad the loops and watch the horsepower go up... with zero string creep after initial stretch...
I shoot the kwik styks with 7 3/4 + , same as Curt. Nice and quiet, if I go lower, they still shoot but I get a little noise, probably due to my release as much as anything. The 58" models shoot great, the only reason to go shorter would be to clear the rail on a ladder stand, my 58" works fine in a blind.
Welcome to the club.
Terry
That sure is a pretty bow! Congrats!
Claudia
At 7 3/4"+ there no noticeable change in performance, but a noticeable "quietness" to my bows.
But all bows are a little different as are we...
If it had been 7-10#'s heavier I would have bought it....maybe someday I'll find one to try.
I ran mine at 7 3/4"s to almost 8"s. It was way quieter and as Curt said, no noticeable change in performance. Shawn
Sweet...like the arrow carving.
Really nice looing Bow.
Grats.....

Awesome looking bow! I am glad you love it, I held Curt's in Albany a few weeks ago but he is LH. FYI, I called and added my name to the waiting list today. Jack's a great guy to talk to. Good Luck and have fun.
7-7/14" seems to be the sweet spot but every shooter is different.
Keep the Faith JC....still looking...
Jake: congrats bud.

I was fortuante to find a 56" Kwyk Styk... Have only shot a dozen arrows this winter... I'm going to raise the brace on it per all advice...
Thanks everyone! I have it around 7 3/4 right now with a SBD string, and it is pretty quiet and still seems to spit the arras out pretty well. Have a little more tuning to go.
Lanier, I will give one of those stings a try.
Great bows!
Great looking bow Jake
Jake, that's one classy looking bow you have there. How does it compare to what you previously shot?
I shoot mine right on 7",works for me,quick and quiet.Playing a bit with 450+ but so far prefer TS-1. Enjoy playing with your toy.
Very nice looking bow. Does he have a website?
My 56" KS likes a 7 1/4" brace height .

I have not owned very many recurves and even less with static tips. So far I would say it shoots better than any of those I have had. Smoother draw and less shock. I still like my longbows, but this one shoot good enough to keep around.
Nice bow bud
whoa that is a beauty.
I prefer the TS-1 FF on my Kempfs...both my longbow and Stealth. Very quiet and snappy....at 7 1/4"...
Nice looking bow! I have heard alot of great things about these bows

Just a quick question:
where did you guys measure the brace height from?
Deepest part of the handle or some other point of the riser?
That bow is very nice!! Congrats :)
Jake,
Very nice bow indeed. I am on Jack's list for a KS! Thanks for sharing.
Measure from the deepest part of the grip.
Start with a brace height of 7" and work up in 2 twist increments, keep notes and keep track of where you are, do this all the way out to 8" or a little more, check your notes and adjust the brace height to where it shoots best and is the quietest. Play with your nock height, write it all down and you are done, just check it every once in a while and reset if needed.
Terry
Thanks Terry...I was just wondering because most guys here prefer 7 3/4" or less but mine seems to like a tad over 8".
Phil
Mine settled in at 7 7/8 - still nice and kwyk but also nice and quiet! From the deepest part of the grip.
That one is a looker. Congrats.
Well not mine anymore... :knothead:
Found something else I could not live without!
Jake your getting as bad as Pat (tater) with buying and selling bows LOL!! :biglaugh:
Ryan
I know, but I just can't help myself, so many bows, so little time... One of these days I will stop....well maybe... :D
Good looking bow. Been wanting to try one myself but, I'm finished with bow buying. Congrats and hope she brings many enjoyable hours of shooting. :clapper:
