Does the approx. 4 ounces added to the weight of a 3 piece tend to make it noticeably more stable than a 1 piece? Your experience?
For me the answer is yes. That said, there are any number of shooters who prefer a light mass weight bow...I just don't happen to be one of them.
Claudia
I prefer the stability gained with a heavier mass weight bow. Then again, what could be better than to walk through the woods with a sweet shooting, light-weight longbow. Romantically, give me the longbow. Realistically,I shoot heavy bows better. But that's just me.
One piece , Longbows rule!!!!!! mark :wavey:
one peice longbows are the only ones for me. if i want more of a heavey feel when i shoot i will go up to a 85#er
Some days it doesn't matter, but more days than not I shot the 3 pc better. Some is the weight and some the grip.
I shoot heavier mass weight bows better, therefore, most of my bows are 3-pc. I do have a 66" 1-pc. longbow with good weight that performs very well.
i love 1 piece bows ...but shoot the heavier 3 pc better....... i like the extra stability and weight.... also a longer bow can tend to be more forgiving.
Just keep shooting the same one whatever it is....get it tuned well...shoot it in all kinds of weather and position and distances and shoot it OFTEN.
Then I don't think it matters so much what it is....I prefer 3 pieces over one or two' only for traveling and convinience
JB
I own a two piece for traveling convenience. Otherwise I would have a one piece. I think that grip shape and practice with the bow is a lot more important than 4 extra ounces of weight.
I own and shoot both, that being said I don't put a bow quiver on my 1-pieces, but have to have it on a 3-piece... Really depends on you as to what "works" for you... I happen to really like both styles and use them accordingly... If I'm "spot and stalk" hunting I'll invariably be carrying a 1-piece with my Arrowmaster quiver on my side... If I'm sitting in a tree I'll be carrying a 3-piece with a bow quiver attached (a EFA or a Selway in my instance...). To each their own though...
Kinda have to find what works for you and go with it...
I've never owned a breakdown that could compare to the feel of the good old longbow or recurve for me.
Hate to start an arguement, but there is no comparison.
Chop that little tree up into bunches and start selling it off into bits and pcs.
I don't care. if you have to put bolts in the damn thing to keep it together, I got a problem./
Now I'm not saying that I've ever found any I didn't like. I'm just saying, UH, UH ,Not for me.
Your personal advisor,

I dont own a one peice yet(pensltuckypete is building one for me, I cant wait) but I like the weight and always try to choose heavy woods in my three peices. Notice the work I.
Shoot what you enjoy. My Dad loves his one peice bow.
I have 1 pc and 3 pc bows-the accuracy is up to me not the bow, the weight difference is a non issue too; maybe just not fussy enough?
Havta' get Bowferd to analyze and explain......
I enjoy a fairly wide range of bows, from my low-mass Hill to my higher-mass Silvertip. I'm very happy with them all in terms of accuracy.
I prefer the one piece. But, if were to be able to travel more, a three piece or two piece would be more in order.
Like was said above. It's about the grip on most bows. I find that if the grip fits, I can shoot it well. If not, I struggle.
I like the 3 pc for travel but really like the one pc for carrying in the field.
Mike
all subjective stuff for a hunting trad bow.
imo, it's not a question of accuracy at all.
t/d's are real nice for air travel. if you fly out to hunts, you might find a t/d just easier than a 1pc. yer call.
no matter what, it's the bow in yer hand that feels best that is best. then see how it shoots. then check yer bank account. there are no exceptions.
I just picked up a 2 piece BW PSR that I love, guess I fall in the middle of the argument.
I dont shoot them any differently. But with that said I actually like shooting better without the quiver on, but shoot better with it on? I think I am just crazy and it is in my mind, lol
